Almost Done…

PLP involves a lot of projects, and if you don’t like them, I wouldn’t suggest applying. I am up for these projects. Our most recent project we are under going is about revolutions. Our class has to create a machine that explains our revolution using metaphors. The machine in itself has to guide certain objects to certain points in the machine, causing different effects and ultimately a chain reaction. This process has to be metaphorically accurate with our revolution. A name for machines like this is called a “Rube Goldberg Machine.” Our class is basically creating a mini machine, using a variety of materials to create this contraption.

Here is an Example of a Rube Goldberg Machine in Action-

At the time of this blog post, my group has not yet finished our machines, but we are well aware of the dates of completion. Our revolution, the Easter Rising, or Irish Revolution, is a complicated revolution to understand. It is much more complicated then some of the other revolutions, like the French and American, meaning we had more trouble finding information. The war only lasted a little while, but the entire revolution lasted almost a hundred years. There was so much information and our group worked hard picking different notes that we chose to incorporate in to our machine. Our machine consists of a lot of different metaphors and materials. Some of the materials include PVC pipe, wood, wire, etc. We are currently working on building the machine as we have been working exceptionally well at the visuals outside of the machine like our iMovie and storyboard. Now that we have finished all of these things, it is now full on machine work time.

Personally, I have tried to make as much of an impact as I can in this project. I have been doing a lot of work on the other assignments like the iMovie but I have spent a significant amount of time working on the machine. In the future of this project, I plan on working more on the project and engaging in producing and working harder with my group,  meaning less distractions, etc. Overall, I think I have been working hard at this project, and I plan on having the same attitude and overview of these projects in future assignments and group work.
