The Advertisements of The Hutch

For the last two months in PLP we were doing an advertising unit. At the end of the unit we made three adversitments. All were on specific topics, one on a natural landscape in Oregon, one on a business in Oregon and last, one on an advocacy topic. For my natural landscape I chose Fort Stevens Historic State Park and for my business I chose South Beach Fish Market, for my advocacy ad I chose the Ocean Wise program run by the Vancouver Aquarium.

These are the photos for my natural landscape ad.

I worked on this ad first and probably put the most effort into it because I really wanted to show how cool the historic state park is.

This was my second favourite ad, I really enjoyed actually going there because the smell of delicious fish and chips and other sea food was AMAZING!!!!!!

My advocacy ad was really hard to do because it took me forever to find a topic and it was hard to produce my own photos and limit the words in it in the end it turned out pretty good.

This was a great project to settle into how PLP runs and it also have me some great strategies for future projects. The best strategy I learned was, to show multiple people what you are doing and get critique. I spent lots of nights with my parents editing and getting critique from them and some days at school we would use the majority of class critiquing others and getting critiqued.

Through this project I also learned a lot about media an how it affects you. We looked at Pathos, Logos and Ethos. Pathos is the appeal to emotions, Ethos is the appeal to credibility and Logos is the appeal to logic. In our advertisements we had to us stratifies that linked to these three forms of rhetoric.
