SLC’s Again!

Well I didn’t expect this, we have to do year end SLC’s as well. Although it was kinda obvious I was still surprised when I heard about it. For this SLC we had to talk about the work we are most proud of, the work we wish we could improve and a reflection of our goals.

First for the project I am most proud of. I am most proud of my Blue Sky design project. I really enjoyed doing it, despite the stress, and I also felt that I really put in a lot of effort through getting home from school and working on it until I had an activity and then when I got back from the activity I worked on it some more, well past my bedtime. There were a lot of setbacks like my silicone not drying or my timer not working. When I hit a setback during this project I spent some time just thinking about how to fix it, establishing how I’m going to do it and doing it.

Next is the work I felt I could have improved. That would have to be my Renaissance poster. The research I got wasn’t very thorough and I didn’t get much information. There wasn’t much information for two of them other than their contributions to their field. Although I found a good point to do my image on I also felt that I could of worked a little bit harder at making it be more engaging and more pleasing to the eye.

Now for my last topic, Goals. At the very start of the year I set a personal goal of dealing better with problem solving. Ever since I was a little kid I have had a hard time with problem solving. If I couldn’t figure out something or I didn’t understand something I would burst into tears. This year I only cried a few times because I was really stressed out. In PLP, problem solving is a very big thing. With each project there was always some problem solving like with getting an app to produce what you want or if you are just out of ideas for a bit. With each project I grew and became a better problem solver and I think it developed a lot at DI but also at the end of the year, with all the projects. Each small challenge I hit with French, Science, Blue Sky and Humanities I tried to find a solution and didn’t burst into tears or become super frustrated I just faced it head on processed my options and overcame it.
