“Actually Factually” 🤓

I hope you like the word “project”.

Hello and welcome to this blog post about a recent project I completed called “The Manhattan Project²”. This project revolved around creating an eBook that demonstrates the historical significance of the Manhattan Project. Generally each project has keystones, but this project seemed to be more self-motivated. The process of this working towards this final product was more of a freeform system. Since this was a group based project I intended on leading the group forward through contributing ideas and effectively independently working.

To start of this project I was away, so I was trying to understand what was happening from afar. Due to this I was somewhat unable to start pre-planning ideas of how to approach completing the final project. With this barrier I decided to be ready to learn right away. Went I entered the class on my day back I started with making detail notes on class lectures. I think I used a good sense of my personal agency while doing this.

After taking some notes and being introduced to the contents of the manhattan project it was time for us to start and work on the final product. My contributions to the book started with some significant research. This research was a deeper dive in the chapter I was about to write, “The People Behind the Bomb”. I decided to do additional research to further my knowledge front the class lectures. I wanted to work on my use of preparation and agency.

I then started to work on the design and layout of my chapter in the app, Canva. I decided to take a more infographic approach to the design. I asked for feedback throughout my group and there seemed to be a consensus that my design suited the our agreed upon design perimeters. While doing this I feel I was able to use collaboration and engagement through successfully contributing to the book’s design.

On top of this work I felt I wanted to contributed more to group efforts to create a successful book. To do this I worked on a script for a group reenactment video and wrote a book concluding chapter. For the script I did additional research and took feedback from my group to improve it from the first draft. The reenactment was centred around the trinity test and most lines were based off of quotes.

Before completing the conclusion chapter work I was tasked with creating a short reflection. After this reflection was done I reflected upon what I wrote and decided to take accountability and start to contribute as much more as I could on the book.

The concluding chapter I did was centred around tying the book together. I did an analysis on our thesis statement/answer to the driving question:

“The Manhattan Project was historically significant because it changed how science is used in political, including war, efforts around the world, leading to a new age of seeming peace.”

With this analysis I wrote a multi-paragraph writing piece that was the majority of the chapter. I also decided to create a graphic to showcase the theme of the conclusion. Throughout doing this additional work I think I was able to use and build my agency and collaboration skills.

With my portions of the project completed I used my communication and collaboration skills to help put the book together. Overall, I think our group was very successful in individually contributing to the creation of our book. I think we were able to highlight the importance of the manhattan project in the relation to its historical significance.

This project has not only improved my understanding of historical significance, but has also taught me the importance of Communication, Collaboration, and Agency. I think this was possible through my devoted work to be a reliable and trusted team memeber. I also work towards moving my group forward through independently work. I intend on continuing these success behaviour in the future projects.

Before your reading comes to an end I leave you with this post’s question, “What is your favourite manhattan project fact?”.

Thank you for reading this blog post,

Alicia 😀
