Oregon Field School Reflection
During our field school in Oregon there were many memorable moments. This post will cover most of them. First I’m going to talk about the food highlights, and there were quite a few! The main ones were the Thai restaurant we went to (Nisa’s Thai Kitchen) which was really good, and even though I don’t really like chicken, the Chinese restaurant we went to’s chicken was absolutely delicious. Out of all the buffets we went to, The Golden Corral was definitely the best, with pretty much everything you could want from a buffet. Another good honourable mention was the Chalet.
Now for the best of the entertainment, I think the place I enjoyed the most was the High Life Zipline, with John’s incredible pizza company a close second. The Tillamook cheese factory also was pretty cool, and had some delicious cheese. It was also pretty neat when we went on the boat tour and got to see what we caught in the trawl net, and we even saw a couple whales!
Now for the *shudder* educational part of our trip. It actually was pretty fun, and some of my favourite parts were the marine science visitor center, were we got to build little remote controlled submarines, the Northwest trek were we got to see all kinds of animals like bison and mountain goats, and Fort Stevens were we got to learn all kinds of cool history. Reflecting on the field study as a whole, it was definitely worth it and instrumental to our learning because not only did it tie in with things we were already learning in school, but it also taught us things we didn’t even know we wanted to learn.
