Term one is coming to an end so now is the time to look back one what I learned. Video skills were our focus. In a whole term a lot of competencies were covered and thatโs where this post comes in. I am going to reflect on all ISTE standards competencies from this term. Follow along and reflect with me!
Empowered Learner
I believe I was an empowered learner during the process of making my Alberta video for humanities. It was empowering to answer a driving question by making a video about it. It was also an exciting project and I feel that excitement led me to be a better learner in the process. At the end, being an empowered learner allowed me to create a finished product I was very proud of
Knowledge Constructor
I feel this competency was really shown in my take your kid to work day video. On the day of filming I didnโt know exactly what to expect, forcing me to be resourceful when unexpected opportunities came up. At the end of that day I had a lot of footage and the next challenge was editing it all together. Here is where the using digital tools comes in. Throughout this term I have been using iMovie to create videos. I think here I really showed all the iMovie skills Iโve learned. Finally this project was a meaningful experience. I learned a lot about the workplace and that is meaningful to me and my learning.
Innovative Designer
The running a remake project was all about the process of making a video. We used so many different tools to do this like keynote and iMovie. These tools helped us solve problems like brainstorming, editing and planning. I learned so much about pre-production/ production/ post production, which I found interesting. What Iโm saying is these technologies helped us solve problems during the process of the video.

Computational Thinker
Imaging walking into an empty ghost town with a mission to create a silent film. This was the exact situation when we created our ghost town silent films. We had no idea what it was going to be like. I had planned as well as I could but once we got there it was problem solving time. There were a lot of good places to film that I didnโt know about before hand so the final product was not what we originally planned but it was still pretty awesome thanks to our problem solving skills.
Creative Commicator
This video was about the Russian Revolution. The goal was to explain the Russian Revolution and answer our driving question. The video was in the form of an animation. Animations werenโt something we had worked on as much so it was a good challenge. I creatively expressed myself and got to the goal by making this animation.
