Week 7 – Traditions

Christmas is almost upon us, so week 7 is all about winter celebrations and festivities. My family in particular celebrates Christmas. Every year we go over to Vancouver Island and celebrate Christmas with my grandparents. This is a little map of our Christmas Eve and day. We start off Christmas Eve by having a very nice dinner of turkey and mashed potatoes. Then after dinner we watch a Christmas movie. Last year we watched The Muppets a Christmas a Carol, and The Grinch, after we watched the movies we would go to bed. The next morning the first thing we would do is have breakfast. At breakfast we would get little “table gifts”. Table gifts were little gifts that were wrapped in a small package. Last year I got a cool handheld maze puzzle. After breakfast we would open our gifts. My grandfather would dress up in his “special occasion shirt”, it’s a yellow shirt with red and green dots on it and he wears it on birthdays and Christmas, and he would be Santa for the day. He would hand out the gifts, normally with help from my brother, to each person. After we had opened our presents we would have a quick lunch, then go down to the beach and walk to the main town. When we got back we would have a big dinner, and then relax and get ready for bed. This year is a little different. We are actually staying at my house for Christmas, something we haven’t done since I am 8. I am really excited for Christmas this year for some reason and I cant wait to be able to have 2 weeks of no school!

This photo is from New Years Eve last year. It is a Shirley Temple that I made. Our family always has a drink that we all drink on New Years and last year our drink was originally a fizzy drink that didn’t turn out to be so good(my dad tasted some earlier). So we went out and got grenadine, ginger ale, and orange juice so we could make shirley temple’s. I was really into bar tending and mixology at the time so this was a fun things I got to do on New Years. I really enjoy the traditions and things my family does during the winter holidays. I hope you enjoyed reading about them as much as I enjoyed writing about them! Peace out ✌️
