On May 30th, Canyon Heights students and staff will be participating in the Think Globally Walk Locally. The pledges collected will be donated to Kenya through Free the Children, and the Nicaragua Program. Students will be walking either to Cleveland Dam (primary students) or to Ambleside Beach (intermediate students).
This walk originated from the Walkanagua 4 years ago. At that time, students raised funds towards our Nicaragua committee. Now, we have developed the Think Globally Walk Locally for the Nicaragua committee as well as the Kenya through Free the Children.
The walk is just around the corner, SO GET READY TO COLLECT THOSE PLEDGES CANYON HEIGHTS!

On January 19, the students in the Free the Children commitee will participate in the Vow of Silence. On this day, the students will try to remain silent throughout the day to raise awareness about children in some places that don’t have a voice. The students will remain silent for 24 hours without any kind of communication.

The students, parents and staff at Canyon Heights contributed all year to the Nicaragua Committee. Mme Haller, who has visited Nicaragua many times, went back again in the summer of 2011. This short video shows the sharing and the caring. We are all very proud of the passionate work we do.

Canyon Heights Elementary school Christmas craft fair is coming up.
The Canyon Heights Nicaragua committee has been putting on this charitable fundraiser for 8 years. Our fair takes place every year during the Christmas season.
Our very passionate students will be selling fantastic Christmas cards. What makes these cards special is that you are able to know where your money goes. Like everything else sold, all of the profits from these cards go toward Nicaragua in our mission to make the world a better place. Cards will also be sold at our display at Edgemont Village on Saturday Dec 3rd.
This year, our fair takes place on December 7, 8, and 9, from 3-4 pm, in the Gym. Games, activities, food, crafts, our specialty hot chocolate and crepes and much more make up our Christmas craft fair. This tremendous craft fair is student run. In addition to many activities, our very talented musicians will be playing some lovely music.
We hope to see you there!
The Nicaragua Committee.
