“Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.”

Welcome to my tPOL. In this presentation, I will be answering the question, “Why do you think you are ready to advance to the next grade?”

I think I am ready to move on to grade 11 because I’ve learned from previous years and applied that knowledge in and out of school. This will help me learn better in grade 11. To demonstrate my progress, I will discuss how I’ve grown this year as a learner. To do this. I will take a look at my projects in the latter half of the year, before and after spring break.

Before Spring Break

Projects – The Power of Imagination, Trend Videos, Atomic Habits

I did not do these projects well. At all. For the Power of Imagination, the video that we planned with our group did not come to fruition(although it was better than I expected). Our video had a fraction of the shots we had planned, we didn’t have an interview, and it opened with Sepaus in the bathroom. Safe to say it did not go very well. All of this was a result of bad planning, unexpected flight cancellations, and a general lack of effort when in DisneyWorld.

The same issues applied for our Trend Videos project. For me, this one was worse than the Humanities project. Even before our flight was cancelled, I had already essentially failed the project, not doing any of my prototype videos and only storyboarding a few. Once we were in DisneyWorld, it didn’t get any better, with me neglecting the filming I needed to do for most of the trip. This resulted in an overall lack of footage, which lead to me barely cobbling together only a couple of videos. To be honest, I’m amazed I got an accomplished on this project.

The other project I’m amazed by my grade in was our Atomic Habits project. This was less of a project, and more of a “read this book, do a couple of things, and write a blog post.” In other words, this was really easy. So what did I do for this project? Saved reading the book for the last couple of days before the blog post was due, barely pay attention to the things we were doing in class, and then write a pretty decent blog post which didn’t even get handed in on time.

Overall, the entire first couple months of the second half of the year were a complete failure. I still managed to learn a lot things from these projects, which was mainly to not do the things that I did again. I took these lessons with me into the next part of the second half of our year.

After Spring Break

Projects – Lies and Incongruences, Podcast, Marketing

*note; these are not all the projects we did

Taking the lessons I learned from the pre-spring break projects, I went into our most recent projects with a couple things that I wanted to improve on. These things were planning, handing things in on time, paying attention in class, actually doing my work, and general effort in projects. I think that while I’m still not anywhere close to where I want to be on these things, I made a big improvement from where I was before spring break.

For Lies and Incongruences, our most recent humanities project, I was much more on top of my work than I was previously, with me handing in only a couple things late. I also think that this project has some of my best work this year, and I am proud of everything I did throughout the project. I payed attention in class a lot more, I put in more effort, and I did a moderate amount of successful planning. Overall, this was a pretty successful project.

Our podcast project went well, though not as well as I would’ve liked. I was really excited to do this project, and I am really proud of what I created. The part that I did not do great in this project was not really finishing the project. At the end, I had two episodes which only totalled twenty-three minutes, well below the sixty minute goal. Even though I was productive in class, spent a lot of time on my podcast, and put almost all the energy I should’ve been spending on my name and art into my episodes, I still didn’t have enough content.

The final project I am going to be talking about is our marketing project in PGP. This project centred around marketing ourselves to potential employers, and was a lot of fun to do. The workload was quite light, and I got most of it done in class, which left room for me to work on other things at home. This was a fun class and a fun project, and I payed attention in class well, unlike our Atomic Habits project

.

In conclusion, I believe that I am ready to advance to grade 11 based on my learning journey and growth throughout this year. Reflecting on my projects before and after spring break, I have learned valuable lessons about planning, effort, time management, and attentiveness in class. Despite initial setbacks, I have shown improvement and resilience in the latter half of the year. Projects like Lies and Incongruences and the marketing project demonstrate my ability to apply these lessons and produce quality work. While there is still room for further growth, I am committed to continuously improving as a learner. Thank you for joining me in this presentation of my learning.
