Welcome back to my blog! Today, I am going to tell you about the Personal Growth and Planning (PGP) class, specifically focusing on Financing. In this post, I will be guiding you through the highs and lows of this project. I hope you find it enjoyable!

So, without further ado, let’s jump right in. In PGP, we kicked off with a fascinating activity known as “Budgeting Reality.” Our task was to create a budget for an entire month, distinguishing between Fixed Expenses (such as rent and bills) and Variable Expenses (like dining out and shopping). If we didn’t have a consistent income, we could select a month when we did, and if we couldn’t recall our spending for a specific month, we made estimations. It was an excellent way to grasp budgeting and money management skills.

Next on the agenda was “Your Financial Future.” This activity revolved around planning for our future careers. We delved into researching summer jobs and set goals for how much money we aimed to earn. Additionally, we explored the average costs of attending university. It was truly eye-opening to visualize our financial prospects.

However, the highlight of this section was undoubtedly the “Stock Market Challenge.” It turned into a thrilling competition within our class to determine who could generate the most profits in a simulated stock market. We had two options: pursue prominent stocks or focus on ethical stocks. I chose to go invest all of my money into BEN, because Ben told me to. Initially, I had no knowledge about stocks, and now, my knowledge hasn’t changed! I documented weekly reflections to track my progress. In the end, I managed to accumulate over $800 in the simulation, which was an enlightening experience. I am proud of myself for navigating the ups and downs of the stock market.

Beyond the financing aspect, we also engaged in a personality test activity. Our objective was to discover our personality types and gain a better understanding of ourselves. We even had a friend take the test on our behalf, putting ourselves in their shoes when answering. It was incredibly fascinating, and I wrote a reflection on the entire process.

Overall, this project was truly amazing and provided valuable insights into supporting my career choices. I learned the importance of researching options that align with my financial circumstances. Budgeting and making wise financial decisions are also crucial. So, that sums up my experience with the Financing section in PGP! Thank you all for reading!
