“Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.”
Hello and welcome to my 2024 transitional presentation of learning. Today, we will be going over my time in PLP this year, and why I believe I am ready to advance to next grade. You will see some examples of my work this year, and an honest reflection of my behaviours and time spent in class. I will go over my strengths and where I have room to grow, and my work ethic and learning habits. without further ado, let’s get into it.
Agency
Let’s talk about agency. The project that I have chosen today to showcase my agency is Fear Factor. This was our project was about the Cold War, and how fear is used as a political tool. I chose to write and record a song to showcase the learning in this project. Because of the individuality of the projects and the nature of my project in particular, there wasn’t much that the teachers could do to help me besides feedback on the lyrical side of things. Because of this, I had to take a lot of agency when it came to creating my product.
Let’s read a little but more about that project → Fear Factor
Communication and Collaboration
The project that I have chosen to demonstrate my growth in the area of communication and collaboration is our Manhattan Project Project project(and yes that makes sense). I chose this project to show my growth because at the start of this project, I was a little unenthusiastic about working with a group, and therefore didn’t collaborate or communicate much. As the project moved on, I got more comfortable in my group, and started putting more focus into communicating and collaborating with my team. Because half of us were on the field study and half of us were back at home, communication was essential. While I still think my communication is still something I need to work on, I’ve improved a lot at my communication and collaboration skills.

Self-Regulation
Now hear is my massive FAIL of the year. Overall this year, my self-regulation was the thing I needed to work on the most. This showed in our BCFP course. From the start of the course(around early February) to nearly halfway through the course, there were only a couple hand-in spots for the work we were doing in class. As a result, by the time all(and I mean all) of the hand-in spots appeared, I didn’t have any of the work done or ready to hand in. Throughout the year, my biggest setback was my self-regulation. Between being off-task in class, not managing my homework and my time well, and not meeting deadlines, there is a lot I need to work on.
Overall, this has been a pretty good year for me. I’ve had some good projects, some bad ones, but in total it went pretty well. Grade 11 was certainly the most challenging academically so far, but I do truly believe that I am ready to move on to Grade 12. Thank you very much for reading, and have a great day.
