How it started How it’s going Summative post

Welcome👋

Welcome back to my blog. This another summative post because we have finished another project. So that means we have to write another blog post. This project was called “How it started/how it’s going”. Without further ado let’s get started.

What was this project and what did it include📦

This project’s driving question was “what can we learn from the past and why does it matter to us today?” If you haven’t read my other posts, in plp each project has a driving question we try to answer and we go through different phases of the project.

Somethings we did📒

In every project we have 6 milestones. I have learned a lot throughout this project about history and how it can make up a lot of our worldview. Worldview (noun) a particular philosophy of life or conception of the world. We learned a lot about feudalism in both the renaissance and medieval times. We also learned lots about the church and cristianity and how it started. We worked on note taking a fair bit and learned how to take Cornell notes. Cornell notes are an easy organized way to take quick but good notes to help prepare for things like tests. A little bonus was the chance to use Blender to create two small animations. One for milestone 1 which my friend also worked on. We both love to work with softwares like blender. Here’s a link to his blog. In milestone 1 we both made a hallway tour of a virtual museum to kick off our “how it started how its going” meme. It showed our progress from around the start of plp or late summer to the present and how much we have improved. The second render was a ribbon cutting animation for the big ribbon cutting of the museum. The hallway tour was quite simple but the ribbon cut was actually slightly complicated. I do not have much experience with simulations but this looked great in the end.

Museum Walk through

Ribbon Cutting

The final goal of this project was to create a virtual museum that guests could walk around in and see all of our art. Our art and artist statement had to represent the aspect of worldview we were assigned. I was assigned values which I was actually very happy about being assigned values. Values are a large part of my worldview to show and write about. I chose to speak about how people of a society value a strong political leader. My final meme is right below (I am not a trump supporter).

Competencies 📜

In this project there were 2 mayor competencies 1. Establishing historical significance 2. responding to text.

To show responding to text we worked on our worldview collages and the statements that went with them. I feel that I wrote the statement that went along side the collage well but unfortunately I do not think I put enough into the collage and I also did not use all original images. The next main competency was establishing historical significance. To show this we did our milestone 3 quiz which I struggled with. I talk more about that in my next topic. We worked on this competency again in milestone 5 and this time I feel that I did well and I was confident with my work. Milestone 5 was our meme compared to the original painting and our artist statement. I think that the reason I feel I did so well on milestone 5 is because I was able to really connect the painting to my modern worldview.

What I struggled with🔒

This is a new section that I am trying out. Let me know what you think of it in the comments after you have read it. So the part of this project I struggled with was milestone 3 the quiz. This was a quiz with only one question. “What historically significant events helped our worldview?”. Despite having fantastic notes I do not take quizzes well and I stress a lot about them but only at the last minute. I sort of froze at the start of the test. We were only given half an hour which was too short in my opinion. I did some reflecting about the quiz and re-read it a couple times. I just did not have a specific topic and went too quickly through the quiz and was not able to do meaningful work. Another unfortunate thing was that I was so stressed about the test that I wrote a whole version then got self conscious then scrapped it and turns out that was the better version. But as they say in plp the word FAIL stands for first attempt at learning.

My final thoughts🧠

Did we answer that driving question? I think we did here is my explanation as to why. We all learned about past perspectives and events that we were able to import into today’s modern western worldview and we see if things have changed or somewhat stayed the same.

Thanks for reading this new summative post. I enjoyed writing it a lot and I really hope you enjoyed reading it. If you would like to read some of my other posts I would recommend this one

I personally love the new section! I think it is truly how we learn to look at our attempts at learning. What was the most interesting part of the project for you?
