Today at Cleveland

I was sitting in Mme Robataile’s class this afternoon, and we were all quietly doing our work. They were doing art, and I was thinking about this blog. It was the first time today that I slowed down and reflected on the day.

Before the day started, I had decided to make it class visit day. Three days with no children (or teachers) in a school, and I needed to be in classes. I missed the joyful noises of children coming into school, children on the playground, and children in their classes. It’s good to be back.

A lot was happening throughout the school today.

In Kindergarten, centre time was active. Some were building, some were playing in the house centre, and others were painting. A few grade 7 students helped to build the castles that needed a few more additions before they could be called complete. .

The upper intermediate French Immersion students were presenting their speeches in class. We have the finals being presented tomorrow morning. I learned today about jellyfish, ice ages, Angel Flights,  child labour, Mozart, the dark side of Facebook, Ken Dryden, the importance of bees, jellyfish and the Simpsons.

Some students did math tests today. There were fraction questions and questions using variables and equations.

I witness team poetry. Girls read one part, and then the boys read the other part. Sounded great.

Our grade 4’s were working on the friends program, while the grade 5’s were looking at the best ways to present the Stand By Messages on posters for around the school.

The Mural Project continues, with the grade 2’s working on combining science, poetry and art.

Grade 3 students in Mrs. Simcox’s room worked with the laptops.

Donald Duck even dropped in to teach a bit about math to a grade 4 /5 class.

It was wonderful to see all the students and teachers here today. One more day before we take a two week Spring Break. Looking forward to what tomorrow will bring.

Take care.
