Construction Update

There are only a few days more until we start our new school year. Construction continues every day. The new office (to the left) is nearing completion, while the front hallway floors are almost all installed.

I am asked daily, “Will it be ready for Tuesday?”

“Yes. Definitely.”

Thanks to the hard work and leadership from Quinn & Bill, and all the other people involved in the project, Cleveland students, staff and families will see a beautiful new main office and front hallway. Thanks also to the North Vancouver School District for funding this school improvement project. There will be more thanks given out once the project is complete.

For now, I am focusing on optimism, and I know that we will be ready for the first day of school.

See you Tuesday.

Take care.

Getting Ready

The new school year is fast approaching. For some of us, summer is almost done. Enjoy it while you can.

I am back at school now, working on many things that need to be done prior to the start of the school year: staffing, student registration, communicating with staff, custodial issues and other school related issues.

I don’t have an office this week, so today I decided to set up in the inner courtyard. I should have done this yesterday. I like it out here.

It takes a lot of work to get ready for the start of the school year. Teachers have been coming in to set up their classrooms, and staff from the school district are working on cleaning the grounds.

The construction crews are hard at work painting the front hallway, installing flooring, finishing up washrooms, and working to ensure that we will be ready for students on September 3rd.

We will have a temporary office space for next week, which will be in the West wing of the school. The main entrance is still a construction zone, so please do not come in that way. Please use the west doors (facing Eldon) if you wish to come in to see us in the office.

Take care.

It’s Raining Today On Denman

I woke up to rain this morning, so I decided to go to a coffee shop, have an Americano, and plug back in. I may stay awhile and have a second cup.

The summer has been excellent so far, and the batteries are feeling recharged.

I visited the school once over the summer break, and the construction projects seem to be going well. I will know more by the end of the week (if I check my email). I am looking forward to the finished project.

I have been enjoying taking photographs over this summer, and I will end this short post with a few images from Denman Island.

Take care.
