Snowy Day

snowman tireswingWe had some snow today at Cleveland Elementary School. Some grade 6s decided that their snowman/snow person wanted to try out our tire swing. I think he is smiling in the picture, but it is hard to tell.

There were a lot of children who seemed quite happy in the snow. Some played soccer, some played tag, while others were sent in for throwing snowballs. There were many students fully prepared to play outdoors, while some elected to wear only a hoodie or running shoes.

Some students felt the school should have been closed for a snow day. For those of you who read this blog in Quebec, snow here on a school day is rare. Any sign of snow, and children want a snow day. I feel like I should make up a story about “When I was young…” when they ask for a snow day. The reality is, there were some great snowfalls when I was a kid, and we had some great times building forts after school or on weekends. I don’t remember any snow days in Dollard des Ormeaux, but some people might.

Sorry kids. There is not enough snow to close our school here in North Vancouver. Some schools have more snow than us, and there was no snow on the ground where I live in North Vancouver. School will be open again tomorrow.

We expect more snow tonight, but rain should come and wash some of that away. The roads will be slick tomorrow, so please be careful out there.

Take care
