Hello!
First of all, I would just like to apologize for my third (fourth?) late blog post in a row. To be fair, I have been away for a week, but I still really need to catch up.
Now that that’s over with, I can get on with the blog post!
For the 5th week of the Student Blogging Challenge, our assignment is to write about music. I’m not much of a musician myself, having quit several different instruments, but I do enjoy listening to music and appreciate good songs when I hear them.
One thing I thought I would write about, since I’ve been in Connecticut and New York for the past week, is Broadway musicals. I am a huge fan of theatre and musicals, and I’ve seen a few, mostly as movies, though earlier this year I had the chance to watch some in the Broadway Across Canada tour. This week I was lucky enough to see the real thing.
My family saw two musicals while we were in New York: Wicked and The Lion King. They were really different, and both were amazing. It was really cool to actually see the musicals that I’d heard about for ages.
Here is a video of the song Defy Gravity, which is one of the most famous songs from Wicked.
I’m sure most people have seen the movie The Lion King. The Broadway show was similar, but there were some differences. The entire cast was dressed in traditional costumes representing each animal, and there were a couple songs that weren’t in the movie. Here is a video of The Circle Of Life.
I really liked both shows. I hoped you enjoyed the music! Comment to let me know if you’ve seen any musicals, and what your favourite musical or song is.
Cheers!

Hi Evelyn, I haven’t seen the Lion King , although they have been on tour in Australia. I’ve always wanted to see the Broadway musical Anastasia. Great post!

Hi Kayley!
Thanks for the comment! The Lion King hasn’t been on tour in Canada, but some other shows have, such as Come From Away and Beautiful. I don’t know that much about Anastasia, but it sounds interesting.
