For our first project in maker we looked at growth and fixed mindsets.
First we looked at what a growth mindset and a fixed mindset was. A fixed mindset is someone that thinks your either born good or bad at something and you can’t change how good you are and if they fail they usually quit. A person with a growth mind set knows that if you try really hard at something you can be just as good as the person that was born good.
I thought it was really interesting to know if we had a fixed or growth mindset. We also learned about how it takes grit and effort to accomplish everything. We learned that you needed to think you can in order to do it. One of my teachers favourite quotes is: “wether you think you can of you think you can’t you’re probably right”-Henry Ford. Also, if you tell some one they’re good at something and if they fail at it, they will think they are bad at it. But if you complement them on their effort and they fail they will try harder next time.
The big project for this class was the selfie project. For the selfie project we had to create a goal for school then we had to take a selfie and put our goal on it but it took a lot of drafts to get everything in the right place and in the right font.
One of the most important things we learned though was that failure is necessary to succeed. All of the great and successful people have failed sometime in their life. I’ve learned so much about my mindset and how I learn the best. I think this will really help me in school.
