We have arrived: the last post of Student Blogging Challenge 2021! In this post I am going to be reflecting on my achievements and failures over the duration of this challenge.
I am the least proud of my “the story of my website” post. Because it was a free choice post I found it difficult to decide wha to write about. One thought I had was to do a book review of Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, one my current favourites. (Maybe I will someday if I have spare time.) However due to limited time (a ridiculous amount of homework), I chose to write a post about my website because it is something I’ve had a lot of fun working on and I would like to make it more well known. I copied and pasted the About page for my website, made a few small changes and edits, then published it. If I’d had more time I would have written more about the creation process and the technology I got to learn how to use. I also would have added more photos and links. On the plus side, I found some mistakes to correct on my website’s About page! Another plus is that it might increase the visitor traffic on my website!
I am most proud of my Music Time post. I was happy that I was able to incorporate so many different elements, including:
- Photos that I took of the different mallet percussion instruments, which I placed beside the corresponding text.
- Music from Seycove bands and a recording I made of me playing a song called The Hanging Tree from The Hunger Games on the bells.
- Embedded SoundCloud tracks and a Google Form, so you can listen to the music and fill out the survey, both without leaving the post. The music and the survey also make the post more interactive.
- Factual information and my personal opinions on the instruments.
If I were to improve the post I would have upload the recording of The Hanging Tree as a SoundCloud audio or a YouTube video (now that I have a YouTube channel) so that it could be embedded straight into the post instead of being a link to an external page.
⬇️ Finally, here is my Certificate of Achievement made by the wonderful Ms. Maxwell! ⬇️
I had lots of fun writing the SBC posts, and making my blog look and function exactly how I would like it to! I hope you will continue to read my posts!
