Hello and welcome to my blog post! In this blog post you’ll get to read about my experience with the project ‘Fractions of Your Time’.
In this project we were told to track how much time we spend on screens each day, and record our answers on an app called numbers, where we created a chart to keep our daily answers. In this project we had to keep tabs on things like whether our time was spent doing something productive, or using the technology for entertainment, as well one or two additional things such as how much sleep we get, our exercise, or a hobby we practice regularly.
The Curricular competencies of this project were the following:
•Applying and Innovating: Contribute to care for self, others, community, and world through individual or collaborative approaches: I used my class time productively and did not interact with others while they worked, showing care for self, others and the community.
•Understanding and solving: Visualize to explore mathematical concepts: I explored mathematical concepts while completing milestones, showing my work and understanding of said mathematical consents.
•Communicating and Representing: Represent mathematical ideas in concrete, pictorial, and symbolic forms: I represented mathematical ideas in my final result for this project, along with pictorial and symbolic forms.
As long as this simple criteria was followed, you’re likely to get a good mark!
Now I know you’re probably wondering “Gabi, you’re told us all about this cool sounding project, where’s yours??” Well fear not, here it is!
This is the final result of my work, but it took a few milestones to get to it. Mainly reminding us of how fractions worked, and how to add them together.
This is what my project looked like two days into tracking our screen time . For one, its way less colourful then it is now, but that’s how it started out!
Thank you for reading my post, I hope you enjoyed it!
