Hi everyone, this week for the student blogging challenge we had free choice for what we wanted to do for our blog post. At first I had no idea what I wanted to talk about then I thought “how about I make a post about how to make a post!” So that’s what I’ve decided to do. Before you even start writing your blog post you want to make sure that you are in the right mood to actually write and that there is nothing for you to get distracted by. This can be different for everyone but for me that means that I’m relaxed and there are no distractions around me, it also helps to listen to music when writing since it can block out sounds that may distract you. However music can also be distracting if there are lyrics being sung since the songs words may distract you from your own, I personally like to listen to classical music when writing because there are no words and it is usually really calm and helps me focus.
Once you are calm and ready to start your post the first thing you have to do is write an introduction. An introduction is what you use to hook your audience and make them want to read more, you could also use it to tell your reader what your post is about and some background information that they may need if they are going to understand the rest of the post. An example of this is when at the start of my posts I say what the point of this post is and why I am writing it like when I say what week of the SBC this post correlates to and what we had to do. Once you are finished with your introduction paragraph it’s time to move onto the example paragraphs. Depending on what your writing about example paragraphs can vary from having multiple that are each dedicated to a different task for that week to only having one that explains everything in a short and straight to the point manner.
Finally, you finish your post off with a conclusion paragraph that recaps everything you talked about in the post and how it has affected you in anyway. If you can’t come up with how the things you wrote about affected you you could always write about how it impacts the reader like if you’re sharing helpful tips. Hopefully these tips can help you format and write amazing blog post in the future (not that they already aren’t). Feel free to comment below if you have any more tips that could be useful to other blogger.
Hello Hannah,
My last attempt to comment failed as there was an Internet connection issue just as I was posting. From that I learned a lesson, to copy the text of my comment and paste somewhere else just in case that happens again.
I liked your instructional piece about ‘how to prepare to post’ – you covered three essential ingredients: prepare your mind, structure your post and use an opening to hook the reader in.
I am an Instructional Designer from Australia and I think you have an easy style of giving instructions – I wish you well in extending these skills in the weeks to come. Perhaps you could consider providing instructions on something else?

Coach Carole
Hi Carole, I’m sorry that your internet deleted your first comment but I think that it’s smart to copy your comment before posting. I’ve also lost some comments while trying to comment and its really annoying to re-write them. I’m glad that you thought that I covered all the essential parts of getting ready to write a post. I actually do almost everything I wrote in this post. I’m also really happy that you like my way of giving instructions and I’ll try to do more but most of the weeks don’t give me much room for creativity when it come to choosing what to do.
Have a great day,
Grace
Hi,
Wow, thank you! That was very helpful! When did you start to blog?
Hi Sadie, I’m glad that I could help you. I started my blog in September 2018 so I could write reflections on what I did in school. What about you?
