Emoji Story

Hey guys, this week for the SBC was focused on emoji’s, sounds fun right? Well as always there were different tasks that we could pick to do that had to do with emoji’s. One task really stood out to me, it was the emoji story prompt. What we had to do was use a random emoji generator to generate multiple emojis in a line then create a story off of that. Up above is a picture of the emoji’s that were generated for me and the story that I created off of it is down below. Please enjoy!

I always tried to make myself a dark and mysterious person, if no one knew me then how would they tease me. I was always able to keep up this facade no matter what happened, I could never show my emotions to the world or I would be weak, that was until I met Jason. Jason worked at the local chocolate shop in our town but I had never actually gone into it because I thought it would damage my aesthetic. The only reason I had gone in today was that my sister was home sick and was in desperate need of a pick me up. Being the angel that I am I left for the chocolate shop ready to be in and out as fast as possible but my plans changed. As soon as I walked in the door Jason greeted me and asked if I needed help finding anything, obviously since I had never been there before I needed him to show me around. I was there for almost a hour talking with Jason, we started out talking about the products then it moved on to other things like school and home life. I was actually sad that I had to leave once I had gotten the chocolate for my sister but we had made plans to hang out later that week.

A couple months later Jason and I are officially dating and I haven’t been this happy in my life, I’ve ditched my previous mysterious facade and am now just being myself. I have a small group of friends and life couldn’t be better. Jason and I had a date for tonight, somehow he had been able to rent a helicopter for us and I couldn’t wait. Time seemed to fly by and it was already time to go on the helicopter with him. Jason met me at the helipad and we got into the helicopter together then were off, flying through the sky seeing the world from the view of a bird. Suddenly the pilot made a sharp turn and I feel on Jason, he took advantage of this and kissed me. I was shocked no one had ever kissed me before but I didn’t care I went to kiss him back but then a monkey threw a jar of honey on us. I couldn’t believe a monkey would do something like this but then I realized that the monkey shouldn’t even be on a helicopter in the first place.

“Could this be a dream?” I asked myself

Then just as I started to question this whole scenario Jason turned to me and said, “Wake up!”

My eyes open to see my sister healthy and well shaking me in my bed.

“Wake up silly, were going to be late for school.”

Damn it, that was just too good to be true. It was time to go to school.

    Hi Grace-

I’m the lucky Edublogs teacher volunteer who’s commenting on your post this week. Wow. How creative is this?! Those randomly generated emojis threw you quite laundry basket of unrelated topics and, magically, you knitted it all together with creative flourish and precise word choice. I’m impressed indeed! 🙂

My 8th grade Communications class skipped this week of the challenge because we were teaching sixth graders how to enhance their narratives with “Show, Don’t Tell.” I so love this idea for creative writing. I’m definitely going to incorporate this writing prompt tool in my classroom and, if it’s all right with you, show your fun-to-read story as a prime example. Let me know if that’ll be okay by leaving me a message on my class blog, please.

    Happy Thanksgiving, Amazing Grace!
