Welcome back to blog post 31 about destination imagination.
Just for review, destination imagination (a.k.a DI) is “a hands-on, project-based educational experience that encourages creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills”
Destination imagination is another way of gaining, understanding and presenting new knowledge and information.
Since I’ve had this opportunity last year, I had a idea of what was expected to complete. There was a change this year tho. Last year DI e was online and we never got to meet the appraisers but this year we all go to go over the St. George’s school and go into a small theatre room with all our boxes (required for our challenge) and presented in font of; Mrs.Maxwell, Mrs.Willemse, Mr.Huges, a couple parents and around 5-7 appraisers
this year the were a choice of 5 different challenges:
- technical challenge
- scientific challenge
- improvisational
- engineering challenge
- fine arts
me, Xander, Cole, and Gwen all got put in a group! We all scored improv !
We required 10 boxes and a serious amount of imagination, team work and creativity.
After months and months of; practicing , researching, running through, accessing, completing, thinking and communicating on April 2 at 4:00 we were finally done ou prevention fo DI for 2021-22 year! After we took all took a huge breath of relief and washed off all the nerve by going outside and satisfyingly crashing all our boxes
At the end of out performance we were also given a piece fo a paper with a bunch of sticking notes on it full of comments for the appraisers. I have to say after a very long day of stressing over our final performance is was very relieving to hear and see the things that really stood out and were enjoyed by the appraisers
And finally no need to think of destination imagination until next fall!
We survived 💪
