Welcome back and we have another Florida blog post ‼️
This one is our main project.
So the process is very familiar to what we’ve done in the past. We’ve made a couple videos in the past ( our documentaries, our whole film unit in grade 9, our stop motion video on ionic and covalent bonds and our romeo and Juliet adaptation film ) so it pretty much followed to same structure:
project process speed run 🏎️💨
First we were separated into groups (because we rarely ever do individual projects in PLP)
I was in a group with; Ines, Colton, Makenna, Cale and Dylan.
Then we were briefed with the drive in question.
Then we had our first tedious task, understanding what we are trying the learn.
So pretty much our whole class was separated into groups of around 4-5 people. And each group had to answer that👆 drive in question. But through a different lenses for each group. Which means each separate group had their own mini drive in question to answer the help them answer the main drive in question.
Make sense⁉️
our groups drive in questions was about Disney’s use of theming, and as you know disney seeing a crazy amount of theming so we need to narrow our lens a bit and as a group we decided of mainly focusing on how the architecture can transport visitors into different places and times.
Once we knew exactly what question(S) we were trying to answer we stared out research.
We put all our found information into our PKMS (a PKM stands for personal knowledge management, which in my mind is just a fancy word for a notes document. But it does make it sound more sophisticated and I guess there are a couple different things… in a notes document you are just recording information, but in a PKM you are writing down knowledge and adding your own personal spin on it and adding your thoughts and outside connections and finding away to almost connect with the information being absorbed)
we had about a week to find all the information we needed. And of course we used craft. (Not gonna lie, craft is kind of growing on me)
this is what I found 👇

inside the link contains:
- The main drive in question
- our won groups drive in question
- a chatGPT generated thesis
- my own written thesis
- a group generated thesis
- The definition of theme
- All 5 cases of evidence to support my answer he the drive in question
go check it out.
Once everyone was educated on our topic we were ready to brainstorm how we were going to present all this information into a “video essay format”, and we had to revisit the story spine and then we started creating:
storyboards
scripts written
and then assigned “roles” and figured out how each person was going to contribute to the making of the video essay.
i was in charge of the “until one day” segment of the storyboard filming. I was going to need to take the time to film the Cinderella castle, the archway and hope I can get into the castle to see the mosaics and get film of the beauty and the beast castle.
Upon arriving Disneyland, I quickly Began filing the things I needs plus a little bit of b-roll (just in case the rest of my group members didn’t get enough). Ask ines about it but Colton was very persistent of making sure all of us got b-roll. I respect the urgency but it did becoming quite irritating quite quickly.
We spent only our first day at magic kingdom so after day one I pretty much had all my video essay footage done. That was a relief. I did in fact have other things to work on, don’t worry.
Upon our arrive home, we were off to spring break ‼️ After our 2 weeks of relaxation we spent the first week racing to get our video essay finalized and edified and this is what we needed up with 👇
Final recap:
I enjoy seeing my previous knowledge come into play in more recent projects. Sometimes I find that I am just mindlessly learning but when I see opportunities to show off previous knowledge and/or make outside connections I feel a lot of accomplished and interested.
I really enjoyed visiting Disney World and I hope I will one day return. (If you want to know all my thoughts check out my blog post souly dedicated to my thoughts of reviews of the trip)
that’s a wrap.
