Because of the learning style of flight, I got a chance to do some pretty cool projects throughout the first term. One of the most important was the Frankenstuffie project:

The goal was to take up to three or four stuffed animals an then sew them together making an animal hybrid that is more successful than each individual animal on it’s own. My Frankenstuffie consisted of a German Shepard, Dragon, and Bear.

Once the Frankenstuffie was finished I went above the standard criteria and created an animated version of it.
Next I had to create a story of how it came to be and what it’s purpose is. We started writing our creative short story with a rough copy of around 500 words, but I struggled to stay within that limit and ended up with double the amount. Upon revising it over a second an third draft I managed to eliminate excess words and come out with a quality finished project.
Next I brought the story to life using the video editing app called iMovie. Before I could start filming I had to start a planning process. I drew up a storyboard that plans out what audio and visual and what camera angle is going to appear onscreen. I learned that sometimes things that are written in a page don’t sound as good when spoken out loud so I had to almost completely change the script of the written story. Using iMovie I was able to make an entertaining film about the creation of my Frankenstuffie the “Brudogen”. In the limited time I had, some of the shots I imagined were impossible so I had to get creative. I also overcame challenges that I hadn’t expected. For example one day Zak the actor who portrayed James, the main character, wore a different sweater than the day before. I wanted my movie to me as polished as possible so I borrowed someone’s sweater that was similar colour. The front of the hoodie was different so people would still recognize that it was different from the other. I had Zak take the hoodie off in one of the scenes with the camera at his back, and used a camera angle were you couldn’t tell it was different when he took it off and carried it crumpled under his arm. When all the shots were done I had to edit them and add music to make it interesting.
I made all my own music for the soundtrack using garage band, an apple app.
I put the music in the correct places to add suspense and to emphasize important scenes.
In the end I was proud of what I had made. I found all the hard work and attention to detail while editing to be worth it in the end.
My strengths during the making of the Frankenstuffie creative writing and movie were my focus, attention to detail, and creativity. In the future I will try to improve my planning an organization during the project because it will make it easier and give me more time to improve the quality of work through revision.
Alongside the Frankenstuffie project were many other projects I enjoyed and it made for a good term in humanities. Just like any other class I had my strengths and weaknesses in both English and Social Studies.
My strengths usually had to do with reading assignments and group major projects. I enjoy reading so I found the Leviathan and Into Thin Air book reports to be no problem. I did well on my Frankenstuffie project by thinking creatively and I took leadership as the DRI in the Cray Cray Yay Yay group project on Nirvana.
My goal for next two terms is just to pass my term one mark of 92%. I think I can achieve this goal by improving my study habits and putting even more effort and thought into my assignments.
