Recently we had yet another blue sky exhibition. I presented a design that was suppose to solve a problem in our community, and that it did. My project was driven by trying to find efficient way to carry my skateboard around effortlessly, efficiently, and comfortably. The materials I decided to use was nylon webbing. I found that using it was the best choice because it’s strong and durable. I put the buckles with nylon wrapping around the board on the nose and tail of the deck. The nylon webbing is on the outside of the trucks so it can be easily slid off. I put the grip tape on the deck facing off me because when it’s facing my clothing it will wear it down and eventually rip holes. My first product would hang over my neck and shoulder and I found it quite irritating over time from it constantly rubbing. My solution to fix the irritation was to take a comforter off a book bag and slide it onto my sling.
My final product was nearly exactly what I was expecting it to be. I called it the SB sling. The SB sling was efficient comfortable and used little effort to attach and detach. The sling was comfortable and hung off my side without the grip tape not facing my clothes. I brought my project to the skatepark to get my peers opinions on what I had created. They liked the design and could figure out how to use it without me telling them how to.
For the Blue Sky exhibition we were put into groups in which our project “fit” into. I was put into organization with Zak, Teva, Anatolia, Brianna, Harry, Ethan and Ruby. We worked together to find out theme in which our exhibit would be presented. At first, we came up with the idea of an open house. Personally, I thought the idea was vey boring. Eventually we changed our idea to kind of an infomercial theme and named our exhibit The Hall Of Bazaar. Our exhibit had fairy lights hanging from the roof and was completed with popcorn, lemonade and doughnuts. When the exhibition came I felt prepared and confident my group would present well and we did. It is a shame that I won’t be around next year to continue them. I really enjoyed and feel privileged that I got to do the blue sky projects with the flight program
