A couple projects that I recently completed were my little big stories. These projects directly connected with our south trip. For our little big story 1s we had to find something that showed resilience and was connected to the deep south. I chose to do mine on someone that would keep me engaged which led me to Martin Luther King. I started by gathering the info when we visited places who had information about Dr King. The most resourceful place on the trip I found was Dr Kings museum. There was interesting info about his whole life and about all the major events.I would say this would be my best example of my work this year.

My Little big Story 2 was on African Americans who fled California in hope that they could have a better future in Canada. This story I found was interesting because it was on British Columbia’s Saltspring. Saltspring island was also a place of history with my family when I was younger. I found the majority of my information off the islands archives. I went though a few troubles having found a large lack in photos and Curtain information. In that I reached out to one of my family members who has been living there for most of her life. She was quite knollegable and was able to answer the majority of the missing information I required.

Personally, I actually enjoyed making these aposed to some of the other projects we have done. The freedom really helped me find a topic that I was interested in and not something that was just given to us. I found it kinda cool to see the variety of choices people made to dive into. It kinda sucks knowing that next year I’ll not have the freedom PLP grants and be back to worksheets and tests.:(
