It’s the end of the world as we know it Portfolio Post

It’s As the end of the school term ends and spring break begins we are reflecting on what we learned , and we learned a lot from our “Its the end of the world as we know it” project.

The project started with a project outline, showing the timeline of events that were going to answer our driving question: How has changing from elementary school to secondary school challenged our worldview? It’s the End of the World Music 2019-Student Project Planning Sheet-15num7j

We were assigned a novel study of the book “The Book of The Lion”. We also learned our groups for the project. I was assigned to Ciara , Matthew and Zoe . It was a interesting novel about the Middle Ages and a shift in worldview.

Next we started a milestone in this project, a paragraph about the sides of the Middle Ages crusades, specifically how the crusades affected a Cultural exchange between the Muslims and the Christians. I found that the crusade paragraph related to my own worldview as in the crusades, the shift of worldview was so massive were everything shifted at it really helped me to look at the specific things that changed about my worldview.

We started the process of writing the song after this by thinking about our worldview, we did this by starting with some smaller assignments such as a expectations versus reality diagram and  we ended with a milestone which was Venn diagram of a experts thought of the transition, peers thoughts and our thoughts.

I understood  that this assignment was underdeveloped, and I dug deeper later. I had trouble relating things to my peers and expert because, I didn’t understand what really was affected in my worldview.

Next We went through the process of writing the lyrics, we wrote a personal version of the lyrics and sang them, here is mine.

Most of the lyrics were personal to me as in my shift in worldview was most personal.

Next we combined our lyrics with our groups and created a collective version of the lyrics that relates to all of our experience.

In addition, we had to make a photo essay to pair with the song. We all submitted photos and created the essay.

This was our first draft:https://youtu.be/RUfiscBdXys

There was a big issue with the vid, specifically the audio quality. We had a peer critique with the grade 11 students and they outlined the ways of improvement.

in just 1 week: we fixed the video and re-recorded the song. This was the final draft.

I think that the main idea/concept was: With Big events and shifts in our worldview, we can evolve our thinking and our perception of the world.

STUBC Week #10: Lets Reflect

Well… This is the the final week of the blogging challenge, some I think it’s time to reflect on the last week.

I started a little later but I started with something that I found interesting,  I wrote film essay that talked about the problem with the animation industry. (You can find this here!)

The next week (week #6)  it was science week! I decided to look into computer science, specifically binary a had a lot of fun making this and learned something. (You can find it here!)

The week after that( week #7)  it was a topic we could pick, so I decided to do a review of the video game “Undertale”.  You can see it here!

The next week (week #8) was all about traditions and holidays, I don’t have many do to religious concerns and I talked about it in my blog Post here!

For the final week, we had to do some coding! I did the “Flappy Bird” challenge. You can find it here!

Overall, the blogging challenge was really interesting and fun, I would love to do it again.

mPOLS 2019

For my first time in PLP, it’s time to reflect on my learning in the mid-year presentation of learning. Throughout the first term I have been evolving in the way I think, learn and work.

My current driving Question for 2019 is: Through the first term, has my way expressing my learning improved? How so?

I have a long term goal of becoming better at time management and handing in everything on time. I will get better by: time blocking (which I have started doing), staying on tasking by using the screen time feature on my iPad and being honest with myself about my work ethic.

Hopes and Expectations

I have goals and expectations to have a milestone hit by early March before spring break, specifically: to have straight A’s.

I have a lot of dreams so I put them on a personal dream board. I have a dream of being a film maker, but I know that if I should achieve something I should start small. It would be a dream to at least start by making a short film.

A learning journey

In my first project, I was very creative and trying my hardest. I am referring to my advertising  project (which you can see here,). Next we had a novel study where we read “The Highest Tide” ,  it was very interesting and I worked hard on it as well. Then we had our trip to Oregon and I slowly was getting worse, I was slowly miss more work and my work was getting more sloppy. I overall wasn’t doing very well in all of my subjects.

until…

The winter exhibition

At this point I was getting really bad at my work. My parents and teachers were getting very worried, and I was getting anxious. Then we started project work on our winter exhibition project, and took the opportunity and seized it! I worked on all my projects and completed 2018 in a great state.

Religious Worldview and Exhibition Portfolio Post

For our final project of term 1 in PLP 8 was a poster where we presented our learning through a brief and interesting paragraph and explained the concepts and beliefs.

It’s started mid-October, when we intially joined PLP we knew there was 2 exhibitions were we showcased our learning alongside the grade 9 to 11’s. We were all assigned a religion and a group, I was assigned Sihkism with Alexandra, Kaden and Rian.

Our first draft wasn’t very good, it was a rip-off of the example poster  we looked at, we also used lotuses even though lotuses are more of Buddhism’s flower.

The first draft (left) the example poster (right)

Our 2nd draft was completely revamped and looked very nice, it was formatted great and aesthetically interesting. It still needed some changes but it was looking great.

Our third draft had a lot of improvements such as paragraphs, the Sikh  logo and a cleaner image of Sihk food, but we still need to improve our drawings and better paragraphs.

The fourth draft refined a lot of smaller details such as : making the image for the food above more fitting, making the image for the Gurdwara very appropriate as its the Harmandir Sahib : the main Sihk temple. Although we were struggling to make brief and interesting paragraphs for the categories.

By time the forth draft was made it was only a few more weeks until exhibition so we started the other parts of our presentation: The food and Drinks and activity.

After brainstorming, we decided to make the Punjabi drink Lassi a milk and yogurt, and sugar cookies with Sihk logos. I designed the activity, Sihk Jeapordy: normal Jeapordy with all Sihk categories.

This was our final draft and our best draft, the paragraphs were brief and interesting, it was great to look at and overall amazing.

Through the project I learned more about my driving question: how does religion affect worldview? Through the project , I learned more about my worldview.

SBC Week #8

For this week of the student blogging challenge, we had to talk about our holidays and traditions, but I don’t really have many holidays or traditions…. So I’ll talk about why I don’t have many!

I am a Jehovah’s Witness and while I’m restricted from participating in certain holidays, I still have great times! For Instance : While other people celebrating Halloween and go trick or treating, I go bowling with friends! In my beliefs celebrations like: birthdays and Christmas have not being celebrated for a long amount of time and ignored by everyone. There is still opportunities for me to have cake and get presents!

If you have any questions, just write in the comments and I’ll try to answer them!

SBC Week #9

For week 9# in the student blogging challenge our challenge was to Code!

For the first challenge we were supposed to message Alex, A blind system administrator for edublogs, sadly the comments section was closed off and I couldn’t post my comment. 🙁

Our Second task was to do the hour of code: The hour of code is a yearly challenge were students around the world learn how to code and coding principles! I decided to do the scratch “flappy bird” challenge, it was really fun and I learned about what different tool were used for and ( sort of ) how computer internally work!

My Cetrficate of Complention!

Our 3rd ( and final ) task was to mess around with HTML, I was change the thickness of my font and write like this!

Overall this week has been pretty good!

Everyday Objects Portfolio Post

In my PLP Maker class we had a series of assignments about the photography of everyday objects ( we also had another photo project wich was about portraits ).

Our first assignment was to photograph  something familar, so I choose my Marley earbuds “little bird” edition.

I used the environment as a way to to put the earbuds in positions the really show off the colors.

Our Next assignment was to edit, adjust and crop a image.

I started with this image.

Kind of dark, the headphone jack takes up a lot of space. Overall not a good picture.

The next picture  I changed the angle of the photo, changed the light for better focus and I used the drawing feature in photo app to make it look nicer and cleaner.

Our next assignment was to take a photo walk , a  series of photos were there is a overarching theme. I decided to choose : A Morning with Jude.

I used lightning to show that it was the morning. And I used positions for a special perspective on normal photos.

Our Final Assignment was to create a personalized photo using the drawing markup tool in photos. I used my Apple Pencil as the main object to personalize.

I Made a little Crocodile,

Overall I learned about the importance of  positioning and lighting.

Portraits Learning Post

For The Month of November in my PLP Maker Course we focused on photography, we had a few assignments and a final project. These are the assignments,

Our First Assignments was to Make some self portraits ( NOT selfies )

I used the Lighting and angling to make it look like I had massive hair in this photo. I also used a Grain effect to help the mood

In this photo I decided to use the “Light Tunnel” Effect to emphasize  the colors on my face.

Finally I used the “Kalidescope” effect to emphasize everything but my eyes in contrast to the last photo.

The Next Assignment was to make a portrait of someone else, I choose my dog George!

The Third Assignment was to create a shilloute Portrait.

In Contrast to the first photo I made the top of my head bright and the bottom dark, I used a lighting effect to make the bottom darker and it worked!

Our Final Project, was to recreate a historical photo or painting, I used my other dog Henry to recreate “Giclee” By Keith Haring.
