I will not be making a November/December playlist because since November began I’ve only been listening to Christmas music. November is when Christmas starts, tbh.

I will post my Ultimate Holiday Playlist, though I’m not going through every song because there’s like 50, and holiday music is pretty self-explanatory. I will add the one song that is missing, though, because it is not on Spotify. I;m not even Jewish, but this is probably one of the only good things that Adam Sandler has ever done.

Because of school starting, I didn’t really have time to piece together a new playlist for September, so I’ve decided my best option is to just mash up September and October in one playlist. I figured it made sense because I didn’t really start listening to new music until the end of September anyway. So, uh, here it is.

1. Bad Reputation by Shawn Mendes

This song is my favourite right now off Shawn Mendes’ new album. I don’t really know what to say about it. It’s just like, a good song. I….I like it.

2. This Town by Niall Horan

First post-1D single from a member who isn’t Zayn? How about YES. This song is so chill and it reminds me of both One Direction (FOUR era) and Ed Sheeran (Ed Sheeran is never a bad thing). You might scoff at it because it’s, yanno, Niall Horan. But I think you should give it a listen.

3. I’ll Only Miss Her When I Think Of Her by Seth McFarlane

SETH MCFARLANE is a SINGER? Literally my reaction when I found out last week. I was then even MORE blown away when I realized he was a GOOD singer. Like a really, really, good singer. I know this isn’t his original song, so I assume that all the songs are covers, but I don’t care. His albums are nice to fall asleep to.

4. I Want To Write You A Song by One Direction

This song makes me happy. I listen to it when it is cold. That is all.

Favourite Lyric: So when the world is cold / You’ll have a hiding place you can go

5. Vienna by Billy Joel

Despite the fact that this song always makes me think of 13 Going on 30, it’s still a good song. I think everyone should listen to this song.

6. In The Ghetto by Elvis Presley

This is obviously a classic song. I’m pretty sure ‘Ghetto’ isn’t a politically correct term anymore, but it’s a still a good song. Well, of course it is, it’s Elvis.

7. i hate u, i love u by gnash

This song is kind of bad to be honest but the chorus is so great that I’ll ignore the rest. It’s so catchy! (I hate this song, I love this song, I hate that I love this song!)

8. No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young) by Queen

This song is mad sad, but it’s a good sad. A positive sad. A sad I can support.

9. Rise by Selena Gomez

This song, despite having that lame talking part in the middle, has a calming effect. Maybe it is the lame talking part that is calming. I don’t really know, it’s just nice to listen to when I have a backache.

Favourite Lyric: You can rise like the tide, like the heat it in the summer

10. Even My Dad Does Sometimes by Ed Sheeran

It seems the worse the weather gets, the more I want to listen to Ed Sheeran. This music is the kind fo music that doesn’t just distract you from how FREEZING it’s getting, but actually kind of makes an experience out of it.

So here it is, my August Playlist.

1. You’re Bored, I’m Old by The Bahamas

This song was one that I stole from my sister’s iTunes library, and I never listened to it until this month. It’s kind of sad and sweet but I really could not stop listening to it this month. It outlines a relationship where it seems like both people are settling, and it obviously ends in complete failure. 

Favourite Lyric: He lays down beside her, she gets up to yell / Now you’re sleeping alone, and I hear wedding bells

2. Friends by Ed Sheeran

I’ll admit that I’ve been listening to this song for a couple years now, but it has made a resurgence in the past couple of weeks. It’s Ed Sheeran, which automatically makes it some of the best.

Favourite Lyric: I know there’s a limit to everything / But my friends won’t love me like you 

3. I Don’t Even Know Your Name by Shawn Mendes
 

I didn’t actually start listening to Shawn Mendes until after I went to his concert in July, even though I downloaded his album months ago. After seeing him live, I do have to say, that kid has some PIPES. According to my dad, he’s the next Elton John. I don’t know about that, but I do know that this is a fun song.

Favourite Lyric: Oh, you dressed up so nice / But all I could see was your eyes

4. Breakdown by Jack Johnson

Is it even a summer playlist if you don’t include Jack Johnson? No. No, it isn’t.

Favourite Lyric: This engine screams out loud / Centipede crawls westbound

5. U.N.I. by Ed Sheeran

THE WORDPLAY IN THIS SONG IS SO GREAT. Ed Sheeran is the first double offender on this list. That’s okay, of course, because we all need more Ed Sheeran in our lives. So much. Where is that third album?

Favourite Lyric: And I don’t get waves of missing you anymore / They’re more like tsunami tides in my eyes 

6. Air by Shawn Mendes & Astrid

The second double offender on this list, Shawn Mendes comes back with a punch. I just started listening to the album, so of course I have to include more than one song. This song kind of sounds like it’s from a really really bad teen movie, but I like it anyways.

Favourite Lyric: And I, I’m trying hard to breathe / But you’re suffocating me, this time I’m coming up for air

7. Fire and Rain by James Taylor

I first heard this song on Glee a few years ago. It was in the episode where Finn dies so of course every time I hear it I just think of how sad it is that Cory Monteith died, but I still love the song. It’s sad, but it’s also really chill so it isn’t too sad.

Favourite Lyric: Well, there’s hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things to come / Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground

8. I Loved Her First by Heartland

This is another song I stole off my sister, and I’m slightly embarrassed to like it enough to publically advertise it on the internet. These are the kind of songs that big hulking southern men cry to at their daughter’s wedding. Still a good song, though.

Favourite Lyric: And I prayed that she’d find you someday / But it’s still hard to give her away

9. Better Together by Us The Duo

I don’t know wether to count this as another count for Jack Johnson or not. It’s his original song, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard Us The Duo sing a cover that doesn’t make the song 10,000x better. Either way, it’s a beautiful song.

Favourite Lyric: Love is the answer / At least for most of the questions in my heart

10. Goodbye Forever by Us The Duo

Another count for Us The Duo brings us to the end of our playlist. The only thing I have to say about this song is that you’ve probably never heard it, and you should listen to it.

Favourite Lyric: You’re cool but I am cooler / You’re pretty but I’m cuter / And smarter
