Week 7 of the Student Blogging Challenge is upon us, and now it’s time to write about whatever we want! I’m writing about just that- writing! Specifically, creative and short fiction writing, and why I enjoy it so much.
I’ve been writing for a while. When I was little, I wrote stories in a big notebook about mermaids and elves. As I got older, I started writing longer stories, and planning novels I never wrote. I went to the Whistler Writers Festival , where I participated in workshops and started writing a story that won an award at the North Shore Writers Festival. You can find that story here.
If you asked me, I would say that I enjoy writing because it give me an opportunity to create a small little world that follows rules I also created. Nothing has to follow our world’s rules in fiction. That’s why it’s called fiction! It could be set in any place and any year, even places that don’t exist or in years that haven’t happened yet. There are no rules in writing, and that’s what I love about it.
Feel free to leave a comment, and thanks for reading my blog post!
Hi!
I agree with your reason to write. I write because not only is it fun, you can create your own worlds as long as it didn’t really happen. I have my own story (or, at least, part of it,) at http://evelynyli.edublogs.org/2018/11/23/swallow-chap-1/

Hey Evelyn!
I completely agree! I read your story and I’d love to read more! I think that world-building is really important, but sometimes you can use things that happened in history as a story.
Sincerely,
Lucy
