Young Haploid

Lately in Science we have been learning about the topic of DNA, Heredity, and everything surrounding the topic.

For our latest project, we were split into groups of two and tasked with creating a personalized video explaining the concept of punned squares and traits of DNA. I ended up being paired with Jamie Ball. Once we got acquainted with ourselves we got to work on the project. We started thinking of cool and original ideas for our video, we wanted to do something no one in PLP had ever done before. We settled on a music video. Crazy idea right? Well, Jamie and I were confident we could make it happen.

I started on the lyrics and found a beat. When I was writing the lyrics I kept in mind the fact that I didn’t need to rhyme scientific words with scientific words, I only needed to include scientific facts and statements in the song.

My plan was to use regular words to rhyme while keeping facts and such within the bar. For example: My name is young haploid and I don’t play around, when I get outside the egg I’m gunna throw down. See how I still made it rhyme without rhyming the site tif is words? That’s how I knew we would be able to pull this project off.

Once I had finished with the lyrics, Jamie got to work on his script. The plan was for Jamie to ask a few questions at the beginning of the video and have me answer his questions within the song. After Jamie had recorded his part and I had finished the song, all that was left to do was for Jamie to put together the pictures to go along with the song in the video. After that was finished, we were ready to upload to YouTube and to present to the class.
