Me & PLP

Grade 9

In the performance learning program there are many things that we like to do different from regular classes or school. One of the key things is reflecting. Today I will be reflecting on my year of PLP, how I have improved, what I’m proud of and showing how I’m ready to move on to the next grade level.

To start off let’s rewind all the way back to the beginning of the year so we can look at some of the work I did back then. Revolutionary ideas is a good example of my work from that section of the year would be my learning portfolio post on crane Brintons theory of a revolution. In this post I show a good understanding of the topic and have some of the correct formatting like pictures and links. But, if we look deeper the problem is that it isn’t a super deep reflection and it’s not super interesting. I learned how to structure a paragraph and make a basic blog post in grade 8 but this year I feel like a really have progressed and learned to make a deep and accurate reflection. An example of the good, detailed post with a reflection is my post on WW1 comics named comical.

Another thing that I feel represents my advancement as a learner is what I consider, the most valuable skills that I have learned to use. To me that skill is successful use of time management. I say this for three main reasons. My first reason is because I have never been very good at time management. I’ve often left things to the last minute and this prevents me from doing my work at the highest level I can. Because now I think I’ve really improved at time management this makes me realize even more how important it can be. The next reason I say it’s important is because especially in higher grade levels and higher workloads this skill becomes used more and more to schedule and manage your work. Lastly, time management has helped me proiritize different work with different due dates including this post. In the coming PLP years there are some skills I want to improve to help help me succeed. A few of these are more effectively using the critique I receive and improving the documentation of projects that I do. I chose these two skills as skills to improve on because they will both improve the quality of my work and these are both skills that I can set goals for and work towards.

Time management helped me work on and prioritize work like this

Lastly, I have set one goal for myself to work on so I can continue to enhance my learning for next year. The goal I have chosen is “ to be able to accurately and efficiently research a topic”. This goal may seem strange, but I think that if I’m able to accomplish it, it will really help with my learning.

Examples of good research sources

In conclusion, this whole year has gone by so quickly that it’s weird to look back on all of the great projects I put my time into and all of the things I learned. The field studies were awesome, the experience of being able to learn in the real world is unforgettable. The projects were unique, and the learning much deeper and meaningful that “regular school”. This was a great year and I’m looking forward to the next one.
