How it started⚔️/how it’s going📱

Welcome back to another blog post about my latest project!

In this project, we learned about events that happened in the medieval renaissance times to answer the driving question : What can we learn from the past and why is it important today. To do so, we studied specific but important events that shaped the world and our worldview.

Events like the Black Plague, spread of catholic beliefs, and the spread of knowledge because they were how humans evolved and found ways to make our lives easier

Worldview (noun): a collection of beliefs about life and the universe held by an individual or group; the lens through which the world is viewed by an individual or group; the overall perspective from which the world is interpreted

To begin the project, we made a museum room about a meme that we created that was based on the difference between the beginning of school and now. I made a room using sketches pro to design and give some colour to my pieces of art. I added a couple other pictures to make my room less bland.

To further extend our presenting/showcasing abilities, I made a collage of key points in my life and then wrote a short story about the different events. Most of the class didn’t reach the requirements so we got an extra 2 days to properly complete it.

As we approached the middle of the project, we started taking notes for a open book test we were having based on the medieval and Renaissance times except these notes weren’t regular notes. Our teachers taught us how to make Cornell notes that helped us keep our notes organized and easy to read. We weren’t told what type of test it was going to be until test day. Just before we got 40 minutes to write the test, w were told that we had to use the information we had to write about 1 or 2 events from the medieval and Renaissance times that you thought affected our world today.

I wrote about the spread of catholic beliefs and the freedom of more beliefs without as many rules and consequences.

All of our work was building up to make a before and after meme for a virtual museum were people would be able to virtually walk around and look at everyone’s memes. I was put in the exhibition group of geography so I had to make a meme that was based on geography.  For the “how it started” picture I found a painting of a horse tethered to a stick meaning it was owned by a person. I then turned the picture into a petting zoo with a girl riding the horse for the “how its going” part.

There are curricular competencies in every project that guide you through each assignment.                                                                 I was able to follow most of the requirements in each assignment and I expressed myself as much as I could while I typed, drew, or drag pictures together. I showed an empowered learner when I made my photo collage because I used multiple apps and I completed a nice story to go along with it to help the reader understand what was going on in the picture. Since each assignment was made on an iPad I used many apps, shortcuts, and techniques to add as much information as I could to my assignments.

At the beginning of this project I didn’t think it was going to be as interesting but after learning so much about such interesting times, I know I was wrong. I’m glad this was the project I had because I learned so many things that will stick to me for life.
