Bonjour mes amies, ( Hello my friends)
For the past 3 weeks I have been working on a project about European colonization in Canada and how it affected the people involved in it.
The driving question for this project is “What did European settlement mean for all the people involved?
My partner and I worked hard to answer the driving question and put it into a thesis statement that was put into an infographic that will be talked about further down the page:
European settlement significantly changed the way First Nations lived. Although there have been changes such as new alliances and trade agreements between companies like HBC and NWC since New France, the culture of the first peoples has remained constant over time.
One of the milestones that stood out to me was milestone 2 because it really defined what Continuity & Change for me. In this milestone we worked with different people to fill out charts that had examples of Continuity & Change.
As we learned about the past, we also learned about what makes a good infographic. We watched a couple videos and read some website pages so that our infographic would look good. Cole and I were given a dark blue template which we were going to fill it up with information and pictures.
The hardest part was getting the the thesis statement approved. Making the drawing and refining the facts weren’t that bad.
You might’ve thought that would be the end, we still had more.
Each set of partners had to create a YouTube video using Keynote’s magic move to create a video that presented the infographic.
After lots of trial and error I was able to edit and add audio into the video and it didn’t sound half bad. The last step was to make a QR code and post it to YouTube.
After everything was done, we went to cates park for half the day to celebrate the end of the project and pretty much end of Humanities 8!
I thought I knew most about the fur trade and how Canada became a country, but I ended up learning so much more.
Thanks for reading, see you next time.🥸
