Hey Y’all, Max here.
During PLP 10’s time in Florida, there were two projects that we worked on. The first is called ‘Power of Imagination’ and it focused on a specific aspect of DisneyWorld that we would have to research and make a video essay about with a group, while we were in Florida.
The second project, the one that is the focus of this post is about five”trend videos” that we had to make, while we were in DisneyWorld. Trend videos are viral, trending, or otherwise popular, short videos that gain attention on the internet.
We were tasked with making 5 of these videos. 3 do them would be individually thought out and created, and the other 2 could be done in a group.
To be honest wasn’t much to this project that was different from the Maker project. For both projects the planning phase was relatively similar. I had to make storyboards, I had to formulate ideas, and I had to painstakingly plan where I was going to film each video. For the 2 group videos I collaborated with Zach and Sepaus , so we split the planning duties evenly between ourselves.
Here’s our planning documents for our group videos:

And here are the planning documents for my individual videos:

Part 2 of this project was actually filming and doing everything that needed to be done while I was in Florida. One big difference between this project and the Maker project is that I didn’t need to always be on the lookout for b-roll or additional footage or audio. I knew exactly what I was going to plan, and where. The only downside is that when I was in a location I needed to film in, I couldn’t really enjoy the ride or attraction too much because I was so focused on getting the necessary footage / audio I needed.
Anyways, since getting back from Florida I’ve compiled all the footage and edited my 3 individual videos together. I also have the group videos I did with Zach and Sepaus. I will attach them below.

The driving question for this project in Maker 10 is:
“How do I make personal design choices?”
This isn’t necessarily an open-ended question, but I wish it would specify what I’m designing. I would say for just general design, I would use aspects of my life, personality, and goals to make something that is truly ‘personal’. Of course, environment, interests, and a bunch of other factors come into play but to be honest the first three are the most important.
All in all I feel like this project was a really good use of our time on this trip. I wouldn’t have liked a really long, difficult, or confusing project because then I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy Florida. While this is a school trip, I think it would be stupid to waste all of our time working on some project I’ll end up hating instead of relaxing in the Florida sun. I’ll have another post just generally about the trip, so stay tuned again.
