To start off science this year, and before we could move on, we had to learn all about safety. In this unit, we did a variety of worksheets and notes, and then at the end, we had a final video project about safety in the lab. The worksheets were pretty comprehensive, we had to make sure we understood all the rules and regulations of the lab, and then the location of all the lab equipment and safety tools.

Then it was on to the final project, the driving question was: How can we demonstrate science lab safety knowledge through the medium of film? So, we had to make a video showing several safety scenarios. The first few classes of filming and working time I was away sick, so I came into class with my group really far behind. First, we plotted out the scenes. Then we started filming, and this was the hard part. Since my group and I were behind from the get-go, we had to film during class in a loud disruptive classroom. Everyone else had finished their  projects so they just had free time. After filming we moved on the editing. By now everyone else in the class had presented their videos, so we had an extra day to work on ours. Unfortunately, neither of my group members could contribute towards the editing because of Ipad updates, so I had to do it all myself.

This was our video:

After we watched it in class our teacher filled out a rubric and gave us a mark.

I feel like our project was pretty good and deserved a better grade than a b-. The expectations were high and I will use the feedback given to improve my next project. One thing I could have done better was add more dramatic visuals.
