Hello to the 3 or so readers that actually look at this blog! I’m back with another (short) post which will be about poetry. Did you know poetry is actually a modern way to terrorize the children in PLP for a week? Well, now you do.

( In hindsight, it wasn’t that bad)

The main reason we did this unit is because Ms. Willemse took the grade 10’s down to California for a week, leaving us with the poetry unit and a substitute teacher.

We explored a lot of different types of poems and had to make our own poems. We did this in the form of a book. ( To be clear, a online book. This is PLP we are talking about). We made it in the app Book Creator. This app allowed us to write our poems and put them down in the book. We also had to make the poems seem appealing. I did this by adding background images and creating explanations about my poems.

We also learned various poetry terms, from alliteration to onomatopoeia. I thought it was actually pretty interesting to learn that there are so many different terms and ideas to use for poetry. Here’s a picture of my terms chart:

At the end of the unit, we had to take a poetry test on the terms and different types of poems we had learned. We haven’t got the results back yet, but I hope I did well!

Today is only going to be a short blog post, so see you next time!
