From the late fifteen hundreds to the early sixteen hundreds a new form of ” entertainment ” stuck the world. This was really strange at the time because nobody has ever really been in a theatre. The plays that were performed in the theatre had to be better then amazing because the people that were watching the play could either exclude the theatre and it would shut down or they could pelt the actors with anything in there disposal.
But in 1642 the theatre came to a dead stop. This happened because the English parliament thought acting was “sinful, Politically, playwrights and actors were clients of the monarchy and aristocracy, and most supported the Royalist cause. ” But during this time the theatres were not closed u could still go in but the plays were banned.
When this act was purposed in September second 1642 it was meant to be temporary but was never given a date that this act will be removed. After 1642, during the English Civil War and the ensuing Interregnum,After 1642, during the English Civil War and the ensuing Interregnum (English Commonwealth), even after the Puritan mandated banning of the performance of plays, theatrical activity which continued English Renaissance theatre could be seen to some extent. For example a ” droll”, a droll is a short comical sketch of a type that originated during the Puritan Interregnum in England. A droll was allowed by the authorities. But the full lengthen plays were banned.
I think they did this because I think they didn’t think the short plays were as sinful as the long plays.
