Court looks interesting on TV but it’s definitely different when you are part of the prosecution
This project was about finding if a revolution was effective or ineffective to do this we took each revolution to court. During this project I learned all about the stages of a revolution and the effectiveness and ineffectiveness of them. The revolution that I was learning about was the Xinhai revolution, it took place between 1911-1912. There were many important parts to this project to help with the understanding and building knowledge about revolutions. We started with an activity call Nation X, the task for the class was to attempt to create our own civilization with a fair political system and economy. The Nation X activity give an understanding of what measures have to be put in place in order to create a fair civilization and shows how hard it must be for real governments to be formed. We also read a book called “Animal Farm”. This book was about a fictional revolution to help our understanding of the key factors of a revolution. After reading the book we were put in to our groups that were assigned a revolution to either defend or prosecute. I was assigned the prosecution for the Xinhai revolution. Me and my group spent a lot of time researching the revolution in order to gain as much understanding about it as we could. Part of the project was to present our court cases during the winter exhibition, so we also planned out a clear script using the knowledge we found son that we could present our cases smoothly to an audience.
Once the script was done we did a lot of rehearsals in order for the presentation to go smoothly. In the end the presentation was entirely scripted but the results were to be determined by the audience. We gave the audience members the ability to vote on if the revolution was effectively executed or not.
In the end my team lost the case but it was ok because in reality we determined that the revolution was actually effective but it was fun to try and prove otherwise anyway.
I learned a lot during this project and discovered that making a court case is much harder than it looks but is fun all the same.
Here is the video of our court case, thanks for reading.
