Lies and Incongruences

Hello.

Today I will be talking about a project that I recently completed, which was centred around learning about the bad history that the indigenous population of Canada faced many years ago.

In my case I focused my learning on finding out more about the Indian act, which was a law passed with the purpose assimilating the indigenous culture and beliefs from Canada and prevent it from being passed down to future generations.

I wrote a bunch of reflections which was the biggest part of this project. After each main subject we learned about we mad a reflection that demonstrated our learning on the topic. Here are some of mine listed below.

Indian Act

Civil Conflicts: Landback

Contemporary Issues: Homelessness

Truth and reconciliation reflection

In my opinion these four reflections demonstrate what I think about the topics which I learned about in class.

The other large potion of the project was a book called “The Marrow Thieves” which is set in the future and follows a group of indigenous survivors who are trying to make a living in a world that had been ravaged by local warming.

The goal was to find how he book relates to both our past and present. I showed this through another reflection linked below.

How does the Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline reflect Canada presently and historically?

After learning all of this information I made a final collage that I made to represent how the Indian act clouded out the indigenous peoples lives and left a lot of pain in a place which used to be filled with joy.
