Golden Ratios

Recently we had been assigned a math project revolving around the “Golden Ratio”. I’ll just explain a little bit about the Golden Ratio. It is based of a rectangle with the  dimensions of 1 by 1.618 but when you form a square with one part of the rectangle, the remaining piece of the rectangle ends up becoming a rectangleThe pattern keeps going on and on and on. This rectangle also follows the fibonacci sequence.

I had several ideas when I started of how I could implement the golden ratio into a project that would involve math, I decided to make an art piece that would involve a golden ratio as the main focal point of the piece. The art piece would involve math to plan out and design and I would have a piece of paper showing out my working of the math.

My sketch appeals to me as it has depth to it, when your eyes catch it at the right angle it almost seems like a tunnel or a funnel. I designed it this way and it also has a golden ration containing the overall spiral. If I look at the measurements for each circle in the design there is a pattern. With the first main circle the diameter equals 14cm, if I then times that by the arduous which equals 7cm and then do that for each circle it creates a pattern. Therefore it is equal to the golden ratio. Each measure meant after being divided equals up to around 1.6 so each measurement is equal to the golden ratio. This project was a bit of a struggle to me as I am not good at this type of math and it wasn’t as easily taught as it could’ve been. Below is the design with the Fibonacci sequence over it proving that the design is equal to the golden ratio, and all my math equations.

MPOL!

It’s that time of the year again, Mpol’s (Mid Year Presentation Of Learning), or formerly known as Slc’s are happening as we speak, and if your one of my teachers your probably reading this as I’m speaking! In this learning portfolio post I will be talking about my second year in PLP so far, my growth as a learner, my goals, the positives and negatives of the year.

I guess I’ll start off with some of the work I am most proud of, at the beginning of the year I feel like I didn’t really try as hard as I could of and I feel like I slacked around a lot. But one of the most early projects we did this year was at Camp Capilano, we were split off into little groups and tasked to make a video that would demonstrate the intro to a television series Without any dialogue. I’m proud of this video because we had such little time to film and produce it and I know that it’s not the greatest video in the world but I do think it’s really good for the amount of time that we had. I really contributed a lot to my team with that video as I did quite a bit of the editing and planning of the video, I’m very proud of the final product and I learned a lot about teamwork during this assignment. It reminded me a lot of a DI instant challenge and I quite like instant challenges as they require quick thinking and communication. I have made a post for this whole trip and you can read it here, and maybe even watch the video if you want.

The second thing that I’m proud of this year is the winter exhibition portion PLP grade 10 and 12 held. I have made a Learning Portfolio post for this before which goes more in depth with what happened and why. The reason why I’m proud of my three mini “Podcasts” is because I’m generally a shy person, I’m more of the quiet one in the classroom and I generally just don’t really talk. I have been trying to break this, and a big challenge for me was this exhibition. On the night of the exhibition we had to get around 2-3 interviews with a visitor coming to the exhibition, we had to ask them questions an use follow up questions to further the interview. In preparation we had to prepare what sort of questions we would ask, I got two interviews during the night and both were very strong. One was about an elderly lady moving from England to Canada, I could really relate to her as my family is from England and my mum has told me several stories about moving here. And my second interview from the night was of my Friend Alex’s dad Daryl, I asked him about having children and what struggles came with it, it was quite funny for me as he told me older stories of Alex and just how important his kids are to his life. It was a very personal story and I am so great full for these interviewees telling me their stories. I was quite nervous as I am generally shy but as soon as I got in the room and started the interviews it was very natural and easy for me. I’m very proud of the final products and I learned a lot about public speaking and going out of my comfort zone to produce these projects.

With good there comes bad, I do have projects that I am very proud of but there are also a few projects that I feel weren’t my best work and definitely could still use improvement. These projects would be my WW1 podcast and my Math Golden Ratio Project.

First I’ll talk about my WW1 Podcast, I feel that some of the information that I had was pretty good I just think that I chose a poor soldier as he didn’t really have enough interesting information on him. I wasn’t that interested in the whole idea of “Podcasting” as I really like editing videos, it was a big curve for me as I don’t really like to listen to my own voice and I’d just rather have pretty visuals on the screen. This is no excuse but as I had this project going on I was also very sick and it didn’t mix well, I just don’t have fond memories of this project and I am not proud of my final podcast. Looking back on it, my podcast isn’t as entertaining or interesting as it should be and I sound very depressed in my podcast.

My second project I’m not proud of would be my Math Golden Ratios Project, I am not the strongest in math so when I found out we were having a project and building something Math I instantly wasn’t interested in the project. I also feel that the criteria and expectations for the project weren’t clear and there was a lot of confusion, before starting the project and during the project I didn’t really understand the math so I had to ask my grandparents for help as my grandfather used to work for BC Hydro and he knows a lot about math. After handing in the first draft of my math project I quickly got to revising it and in the end it was a lot better but I still wish I could’ve done a lot better on this project.

I’m am so glad that I am working on my talking skills and starting to actually break out of my “shell”, I do still see myself as quite shy but all of the projects and meeting new people really helps and that’s a great thing, a couple things I feel that I should improve upon is taking notes in class as I generally don’t and I think it become very useful if I started to. I should also start doing more math in my free time as it’s not my strongest subject and I’d like to achieve a better grade by the end of this year. At the beginning of the year I set a goal to not procrastinate with my work and to use my time more wisely and sadly I have not stuck to this goal. For the past month maybe, I’ve been getting a lot better and I’ve been handing in more quality work on time but at the beginning of the year I was a disaster and I am NOT proud of some of my actions. This is something that WILL change and it has slowly been getting better recently. I’d like to set another goal for the rest of this year and that would be to get my work standard higher so I’m creating higher quality work on time, it’s been a struggle for me to hand in projects on time and it is going to change.

 

I’ve faced many challenges this year and at some points we have so much homework and so much to due I get overwhelmed, along with having to go to work after school and everything outside of school I get very overwhelmed and stressed. In PLP we always have so much on our plates, I do get frustrated at times with the amount of work but I just need to stay on top of my work and not let it pile up. I also get very very stressed at times and I’ll make bad choices like going out with my friends to relax instead of doing homework but these are just very poor choices because in the end I’ll just end up getting more stressed about it not being done and it being overdue, which then leads to me staying up all night doing homework and then going to school the next day tired and just wanting to sleep. I need to get out of this habit and I know that signing up for this program is a big privilege and I need to put the work in. Thank you for taking your time and reading this Learning Portfolio Post, this post was for my MPOL and it’s just a collection of my ideas and thoughts from this year and mainly about where I could improve upon myself as a learner. I’d like to conclude this post with a question for my teachers, thank you so much.

How could I prepare and plan better to make sure that assignments are done either early or on time?  As I struggle with this

Little Brother Research Assignment

Before the winter break we started a new unit called disruption, the driving question for the unit is: How has technology disrupted. Before we left for winter break we were given two books to read, one book called Little Brother by Cory Doctorow. And the other book we had a choice on, I decided to read “Tubes” by Andrew Blum

The book is about a group of teens that are very technology savvy living in San Francisco. the bay bridge is blown up by terrorists, after the Department of Homeland Security puts in new security measures using technology which is heavily monitored. Marcus, the main character fights the envasion of privacy with the help of his online  friends by going anonymous on a hard to reach internet hub designed by himself called the Xnet.

The assignment that was assigned to us was to research a specific part from the book that was chosen by our teacher. We were to connect it to the overall unit and integrate it into the work we had been doing. We were assigned one of many different options, unfortunately by the time I got to choose my topic most of the ones I was interested in had already been chosen. I decided to choose SMTP

SMTP or Simple Mail Transfer Protocol is an internet standard for electronic mail transmission, it’s basically how your computer or device retrieves your messages. Various forms of one-to-One messaging were used in the 1960’s, people communicated with one another using systems developed for specific mainframe computers. As more computers were interconnected, especially in the US Government, standards were developed to allow users of different systems to email one another. SMTP grew out of these standards developed during the 1970s. SMTP can relate to Little Brother as the whole story revolves around technology and the Department of Homeland Security monitoring everyone’s technology. With SMTP being the way you receive your messages the Homeland Security System would hack into the mainframe and could read all your messages.

Winter exhibition 2017

Earlier this year, in December PLP had its winter exhibition. Last year if you’ve seen my older blog posts from grade 9 you’d know that we had one last year too.

These exhibitions are meant to demonstrate our understanding of our learning gas and show of the skills we have learned and overall just to challenge us. Last year the theme for our exhibition was Harry Potter and we were to make our own inquiry questions and answer it through a project, you can see my blogpost for that here. This year in grade 10 the project was very different, for the past couple weeks we had been learning about the importance of story’s and how everyone has important stories. The main point of these teaching was that during the exhibition the grade 10’s and 12’s would be partnered up, the grade 10’s would be interviewing three visitors that would come to the exhibition. The grade 12’s job were to find these people for our interviews. In preparation we had to have a list of questions to ask, these questions could be anything but they had to tell an important story that the interviewees would have. This was quite challenging as we had no idea who these people were and what stories they would have. We learned about how to ask questions and how to make your questions more open to the people that you would be interviewing, we also learned about follow up questions so that you could show your interest in the interviewees story. We learned about all of these from StoryCorps, its a website where people tell their personal interesting stories, there is a interviewer who could be anyone. I’ve seen stories where a father will interview his son or a couple will ask each other questions but the most common one is where a guest will come to StoryCorps and tell their story to a member of StoryCorps. These stories can be very personal and sad or very light and funny. It’s very interesting to listen to these short stories as they mean so much to that person. It may sound easy to interview someone but it was actually quite hard, we had to come up with these questions and meet people we have never met before, personally I’m a very shy person and I didn’t know how I would do at the exhibition.

The Exhibition: It took a while for my partner Chloe to find me a interviewee, but after she had found me an interviewee it was actually pretty easy. In all I got two interviews and both where very interesting. The first interview I got was with an elderly lady, she talked about her life experiences with moving from England to Canada and how it changed her life. I could really relate to her as my parents are both from England and moved to Canada around twenty years ago. We talked for about ten to fifteen minutes and I was surprised of how enjoyable it was, everyone we interviewed that night shared three personal stories with us grade tens and it was very interesting just talking with people I would usually talk to. The second person I interviewed was my friend Alex’s dad Daryl. We talked about how having children has changed his life and how it has impacted him as a person, it was quite interesting to me as one day I’d like to have children of my own and just hearing his experiences was very enjoyable. I used my second interview for the final product as my first interview had a lot of background noise and I just found my second one more enjoyable and interesting to listen to. While editing the podcast I added music in the begging and the end so it adds a little intro. I created my own music in Garage Band with the live loops feature, you listen to my interview here.

Within this project I improved a lot on my public speaking skills and just being more comfortable in front of new people, I also learned a lot about how to use and find good interview questions and how to properly use follow up questions to further the interview. I had a lot of fun with this project and I hope we do something like this again At is was genuinely fun and interesting.

Sins of the City

I’ve spent my whole life in Vancouver, out of everywhere I travel I always love returning back to my home Vancouver. I have no idea what it is but I just over my home city Vancouver, maybe it’s the people or just the beautiful surrounding but I lobe every part of it. But surprisingly I’ve never really learned or invested any time in looking into the history of Vancouver. In PLP we just had a whole unit on looking into a certain event in Vancouver/Canada and also looking at a past problem during the “interwar period”. I was really interested in this unit as I live in Vancouver and I could really relate to it and got to learn a lot about my home city. The main driving question for this unit was “Through the emergence of Vancouver was the experience the same for everyone?”. And the main project for this unit was to make a podcast using this driving question and creating a group podcast with three other group members explains the events and to include interviews to further the podcast.

With only a little bit of introduction to this unit we started off with going to the Museum of Vancouver to look at Vancouver’s history and find some topics that we could use in our podcast. Before we left we were given some different ideas of topics and I was more interested in the immigration topic and the one about city development in Vancouver. The museum was fairly big and had a lot of parts to it, my favourite section was probably the one with all the neon lights and talked about how Vancouver used to be the city with the most neon signs in the world. I learned a lot about Vancouver’s past and the beginnings of Vancouver, and even why it’s called “Vancouver”. We did make a video of everything we did in the museum of vancouver and We also added some pictures of my group working on our project, we do have a behind the scenes video but this is more of a fun just showing what we did in the museum.

After going to the museum we were given our topics and our groups that we were to work in for this unit, I got paired with Spencer, Claire and Sydney and out topic was “Immigration”. We started off with looking for a event within the interwar period that we could focus on, it did take

some time but we finally settled on an event where a group of Jewish immigrants coming from Germany in the 1930’s was turned around from coming to Canada because they only were accepting farmers and people who could help our country at that time to come into Canada. We were all very interested in this idea and quickly got to researching about how we could relate this topic to a more modern event of immigration in Canada. Sydney has family  friends who have experienced Immigration into Canada first hand from The two Children they had adopted, we made a group email asking if we could use her for a interview in our podcast. After we requested an interview from a border officer that works at the Canadian border, Sydney’s dad had a contact at the border so we also emailed inquiring for a interview.  While doing this project we had the task of making a “behind the scenes” video of the creation of this podcast, here is that video.

 

After setting up our interviews we started to gather up all our research to make and perfect a script for the podcast. We really wanted interesting and important questions for our interviews as an interview is meant to further and enhance the overall assignment so we wanted to definitely nail this area of the podcast. We spent plenty of time going back and reading through the script perfecting it and adding the right amount of information but also making it interesting and enjoyable to listen to. I’m not much of a fan of writing but this script was very interesting to make as I was learning a lot about the equality rights in Canada, I learned a lot more about the country I live in and it was very interesting seeing how the rules and requlations have changed over the years.

And finally after the podcast we had a final task, we had to write a 500-700 word essay about our topic. For my groups topic we decided to write about immigrants with disabilities and how poorly they are treated. Our argument was that the immigrants should have more rights to be able to immigrate into Canada. I started researching and watching videos about immigrants with disabilities in Canada and I was shocked upon how poorly they are treated. Some examples would be of family’s that have tried to immigrate into Canada an done family member would have a disability, no matter how big or small the disability the whole family would be turned around and would not be able to enter Canada. In my essay I used several instances like this to further my opinion and try persuade the reader if they had the opposing opinion. We then had to compile all the essays in our group and make a big essay including the ideas from our essays. After making this final essay we would email it to Terry Beech, a Canadian politician. Overall this project wasnt my favourite but it was a very important project, we all learned more about Canada the country we live in and major problems within the country. It’s very important to get involved and learn about what’s happening in your own country or the world. The essay helped me a lot with writing as I know this won’t be the final essay of the year. I’m very proud of every deliverable I did in this unit and I can’t wait for what the next project is.

Work safely

Grade 10 is a lot about growth and discovery, we students learn about the real world and what possible job choices there are in the future, the Planning 10 unit is all about teaching students what they could possibly do in their future or skills that are key for when you are out of school. In this Unit of Planning we are learning about work place safety which is quite useful for me as I have had a job for almost two years.

We started off this unit by taking online quizzes about workplace safety, I found it quite easy as I have a job and already have a general idea if something is safe or not. After we watched some pretty disturbing videos of real teenage workers that were in life changing accidents, it really opened my eyes to how one little mistake can change your whole life.

After watching the video and reflecting on it with the class we talked about how we could make workplaces more safe and what some common injuries were. We then researched the rules and regulations between jobs, employers, and the employee. We then took a quiz with the whole class to correct some images with several mistakes in certain workplaces. As I do have a job witch is dishwashing in Osaka Sushi I have a great knowledge for what is right and wrong in a work place, I’ve been working for almost two years and when I first started I got the usual tour of where everything is and what to do within when I am working. I was also shown what to do in case of a fire and what to do in case I get injured, in all my time of working I’ve never been seriously injured I’ve just slipped and fallen a couple times but nothing serious. A lot of injuries caused I find are more from common sense and I’ve have enough experience to know what’s right from wrong.

With this being PLP and us having a new unit of course we would have a little mini assignment to go along with it, we had to create a visual that would compliment our learning from this unit. For my visual I used photoshop mix which is a photo editing app and I made a mini add/banner that recreates a Work Safe BC poster.

I’m very glad that we learned about work safety and the rights as workers because it’s very important for when your older town know what rights you have as a worker and what you can do if something does go wrong in your workplace. We were supposed to have a guest speaker come in and talk to us about Work Safe BC but they didn’t show up. A couple weeks later a woman did come in and talk to us about Work Safe BC, it was basically a recap of what he had already learned but we did learn a few new things and the most important thing that I learned is that there’s a law if you work at a gas station or somewhere that could easily get robbed you don’t actually have to protect the goods in the store if you are in danger, I guess people do just try protect the goods as it is human nature but I just found that interesting. I’m really glad we learned about this unit and the mini visual assignment was fun to create as I love using photo shop mix.

Namesake video

In Plp we were given a mini group side project to research and create a mini film about a historic part of Vancouver that we thought was interesting. Me and my friends really like to be outside and with it being winter we decided to do our mini film on Mt. Seymour as I have spent lots of time on this mountain from either hiking to snowboarding. In my group I had Spencer Simon Calum and I.

As this being a mini project we had a short time period to fully edit and create a mini film that would show the history of that place and why it’s called what it’s called, we would also have to create a bibliography for our video and have different elements to in the video. My team mates Simon and Spencer went up to Seymour after school to try get some footage for our film but with the weather being terrible and it being pouring we couldn’t get much of our own footage which was very disappointing as we were excited to get recent footage of Seymour, instead we just used old footage that each person in our group had from being up in our past. We also wanted to get personal drone footage as it would be nice to have Ariel shots of the beautiful mountain but that was definitely not happening with the weather so we used drone footage off of the internet. We started editing the video as soon as possible so that it would be finished by the deadline and if anything were to go wrong we would still have time to finish it.

I’m actually very happy I chose do do Mt Seymour for the topic as I learned quite a lot about the Mountain and it’s history, Did you know Mt Seymour used to be owned by a Swedish emigrant in 1938. Years later the government of British Columbia ended up buying the mountain from Harold the emigrant, the government held ownership up until the mid 1980’s when it was sold to the present owners, the woods family. The woods family made some upgrades to the mountain like putting in the lodge chair as well as the Brockton chair. Lately the mystery chair lift was upgraded from a two seater to a faster four seater chair lift, One of the biggest story’s in the news about Mt Seymour is a tragic one. The highly decorated search and rescue volunteer, Tim Jones passed away from a heart attack while on Mt Seymour, his legacy will never be forgot and he was a great loss to Vancouver.

I can’t wait to go up Mt Seymour this season with my newfound knowledge, I go up Seymour multiple times a year and I’m so glad I chose Seymour as the topic as I know have learnt a lot about it and Seymour is a great place for everyone to go to. Our video is below if you would like to watch it.

 

Solar panel Project!

In math 10 recently we have been learning about trigonometry and how it can be implemented into real world situations, for a couple of weeks we were learning about how to do trigonometry and how it is used in the real world. We started oooking At were it could be used and then we were given a project, we had to build a model of a Solar Panel. In our model we had to show at which the sun would hit the solar panel, where our solar panel would be located, the angles and measurements of the solar panel, and all our working out of how we got our measurements. We also had to show of the location of our models. The location for my model is locate dat my house, the month that I chose for the timing of my solar panel is in June. I chose June as it is generally very sunny and the weather is very nice. When I wake up in the morning the sun comes up over the mountain across from my house and the sun generally shines on my house all day so the design for my solar panel would work very well for my house.
The angle of the sun in June in my area is around 23.5 degrees. My solar panel would sit on my roof. The angle that the sun would hit it is 66.5 degrees, if it hit at this angle it maximise the collection of sunlight on the solar panel. The upper angle would be 23.5, this angle would ensure that the solar panel is at the correct angle to the frame that it is attached to.
Next I had to find the scale for the solar panel in my model to the actual size of the solar panel that would sit on my house, my house is 12.446 metres long, scale is measured in standard measurement so converted to inches this is 490 inches long. The length of my model is 4 inches so if you divide that it would equal 122.5 so the scale would be 1/122.5.
For the creation of my model I used some thin wood, card board, adhesive a compass, measure and several other materials.
The creation of this project was interesting and challenging and it was cool designing your own solar panel, I also liked how we got to chose the exact location of our creation, this affects the angles and math that determine the final results. We also got to research more about the area where I live and how the sun affects it.
I learned a lot of skills during the process of this project, I can now see how trigonometry can be a useful subject and how it can be applied to a design to take advantage of its location. Some challenges that I experienced in the creation of this project were definitely gluing the wood together, I measured it out all correctly, but because the corners of the wood were only in contact with each other at their edges, the model could fall apart. I had to ensure that the adhesive was applied in such a way that I could achieve the required angles without altering the dimensions of the pieces of wood, which would result in the model not being to scale, while ensuring that the Model of the solar panel remained sturdy. Finding the angles using trigonometry was a challenge which, I feel, would become easier, if you worked in an environment that required you to use it on a daily basis.
I did overcome these challenges and completed the project, as this was the first math project of the year I found it a challenge but enjoyed it overall, and building the model and applying the math was interesting.

WW1

For the first main topic in PLP humanities this year we’ve been focusing on World War One, and it’s impact on Canada’s identity. At the start of this unit we learned about how World War One started and the many different reasons that lead up to the war. We had to create a blogpost explaining how we personally thought the War started, we had to create a visual to go along with this that would add more to the post. We got into quite small groups and my group decided to make a comic explaining the arms race and how it started off the war, after making a little visual the teachers decided that we needed to include more. We were to get into groups again no bigger than 3-4 and create another visual, we had more time to spend on it this time and we could have literally done anything as long as it was historically accurate and showed our understanding of the unit. I got into a group including Kyle, Michael and I, we had an idea to make a historically accurate video about the “Arms Race”. We wanted to also make it comedic as it would be more fun to watch but also have valuable information about the arms race and how it lead up to World War One. Below is our video about the arms race and our comic sketch about the arms race.

The next “assignment” type thing we had in this unit was about the graphic novel called “Shattered Grounds”. The main idea of shattered grounds is that you follow the story of a soldier and witness him and other soldiers fight through World War One. The graphic novel is very interesting and full of little secrets to find such as Dog Tags and real images taken in World War One. Each day we read more of the book we would answer questions looking back on what we had just read. We would have to choose our favourite image from the section of reading and make a question for the class about the book. I really liked how we read a graphic novel as it was a nice change from a normal book an The added images in the book were very interesting.

We then started the main project of this unit, the “Soldier Podcast”. We had to create a podcast showing the life of a certain soldier we picked and had to explain how the overall life experiences of these soldier and how they impacted Canada and relate it to how Canada became a nation. First we were sent to a website that showed almost all the soldiers who went through World War One and who died during the war. We had to chose a Canadian soldier and there would have to enough information on this soldier to make a strong podcast out of. I started looking for a soldier with enough information but I wanted his story to be interesting. It was quiet hard to find a soldier as a lot of the ones I looked through didn’t have near as enough information as I was looking for. I would say at least half of this project was spent reasearching and planning the script for the podcasts as if the script is bad your overall podcast will be bad. As this being my first major podcast it was quite hated to write the script as I was more used to writing scripts when there is a visual on the screen. When writing a script for a podcast you have the make it flow very nicely and make it very descriptive so the listener doesn’t get bored. We did get critique on our podcast scripts. After looking at the feedback I started taking the critique into mind and started revising my script so that it was as close to perfect before I started recording. I added more facts about the battles that my soldier James Hogg Baillie has been through, I also added more facts about the time period which in he served in and made the script more descriptive and interesting. After making these revisions I started recording my first draft, it was quite hard as I was feeling very sick at this time. I composed all of my music on garage band and added all of the sound effects in from YouTube, after finishing this draft I got peer critique so I could make my next draft better.

The feedback I received was quite good, I did have to add more expression in my voice and at some points my audio went loud and then quiet. I had to make my sound more consistent and also add a better outro as my first one was quite week. The class was then taught about the importance of the intro of a podcast, at the beginning of all our podcasts it didn’t really interest anyone and we would need to change that so it would grip the listener and keep them listening and grip them right away. The final step would be to add that new intro into our final draft of our podcast and make the transition nice and flow nicely into the rest of the podcast. I added some battle noises into the intro and made the music very dramatic so that it would grip the listener.

This project was very fun and engaging, for me personally it was a bit of a challenge as I am more used to making content with a appealing visual but this was a nice change. We were given lots of time for this podcast and researching about a soldiers life was very interesting. James Hogg Baillie was one of thousands of soldiers to serve in the war and I’m so glad I got to honour him in this podcast, none of these soldiers will be forgotten they made Canada what it is today.

All about me

In PLP we’ve done several projects and assignments to show off ourselves more, to show what and who inspires us and show off more of who we are as a person. As for this assignment we had to choose one quote, choose an imagine to go along with it, and create a mini podcast type video of us reading the quote. The quote has to relate to us and show us off, it couldn’t just be any random quote. I first started off with the quote, I wanted to choose something that really repressed my funny and goofy personality. I started looking for quotes from my favourite role models/entertainers that I like, I found a couple but they still didn’t really represent me that well. I wanted it to be short to the point but funny and entertaining as this would only be a short little video, I wanted it so that my voice would have expression. I decided to choose a quote from one of my favourite musicians “Tyler, The Creator”, he’s generally a very funny guy and he had several quotes that could represent me as a person. The quote I chose was “I never want to grow up”, this has been said before by several people before but Tyler has said it so many times, he’s an adult but you can tell he’s very funny and he stays true to this quote. Tyler is a very very hard working guy, on the outside he may seem goofy and not seem to care about anything. He’s a musician, he produces all his songs, he has his own lifestyle brand “Golf”, he has several Tv shows, and he’s a comedian. He’s probably one of the most hard working people from our generation and he always has a smile on his face, he never cares what anyone thinks about him and just does what he wants.

Next I started planning out my drawing, I wanted to include a picture of me. I wanted the picture to also add a comedic affect, the drawing took me quite a while as I put detail into the foreground and then used water paint in the background to make it pop. I took this photo with my friends and there’s just a lot of memories behind it and I really like the original photo, below is the original photo. Drawing and creating the Image was easy as we used an app called Tayasui Sketches pro, its a really easy to use app and it was actually pretty fun.

Next I had to turn it into a short little video, I recorded my voice which was very easy and I payed it over my image. I had to create my own music in garage band which was very very easy, garage band has a feature where it can create its own little drum beat for you so I used that, I then recorded a bass guitar over it to add a little more until it sounded like what I wanted. I wanted something that would add to the overall comedic affect and I think it goes nicely. This project was actually very fun, I got to learn a lot more about the different apps we used, I also got to learn more about quotes and how to choose one that represents you.
