Ow, My Face

During summer break I dicided to take a bmx course. I took this course through UBC Summer Camps and I have to say it was one of the greatest camps I’ve been to.

Every day we went to a different skatepark. On the first day we went to the skatepark in UBC. During that day I learnt how to drop-in and air-out of a bowl on my bmx. By the third day, I was doing fakies, X-ups, and attempting foot plant tailwhips.

Then tragedy struck. On the fourth day of the camp, I was dropping into a bowl at Bonser skatepark in Burnaby. You see,  the bowl at Bonser is painted with slip paint designed to make the bowl extra slippery and, before I knew it, my bike had slipped away from me and I face planted into the ground. As a result, they had to call the paramedics and I was taken to the hospital.

I don’t regret taking that course. Accidents can happen to anyone at anytime. That’s why, once I healed, I picked my bike back up and started to practice again.
