Who likes to travel? Well I do, and lucky for me I get to travel for school too. Last week we went to Calgary on a school trip to go to a festival called Beakerhead. It is festival of art, sciences, and engineering. Since we can’t drive to Calgary in one day we made a lot of stops along the way at some cool places. Let me tell you about the highlights for me of each day.

Day 1:

We left early on Saturday morning from our school. The first day was mainly travelling in the bus getting to our overnight hotel. That night we stayed at the Three Valley Gap Ghost town. This town was made up of buildings that had been moved from their original spot to there to form the town. Since we had some time before dinner we were divided into groups. Every group had to make a fictional video in the town. I was in a group with Jamie, Luca J, and Melica. Here is our video:

Day 2:

On the second day we finished our drive to Calgary. During this trip we made a stop at the Nothern Lights Wildlife Wolf Center. Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf centre promotes wolf conservation throughout the natural environment. Some of the wolves have been used in movies, At the wolf center they had a few wolves wich were beautiful. We even got to pet one.

Day 3:

On day three we went to the Glenbow Museum and the Locked Room. However the highlight of the third day was diner. We went to a restaurant that was having an event: endless shrimp. I had a total of 60 shrimp while Kai had 100!

Kai was throwing up for most of that night.

Day 4:

On this day we went to the Royal Tyrell museum of palaeontology. Everyone had to make a minute long video on one dinosaur in the museum. Here’s mine:

Other then that video I had to make another one, that’s because before the trip everybody had to choose a place to make a video on, and I chose the Royal Tyrell museum. Here’s that video:

Day 5:

That day was the day of the Beakerhead festival. Beakerhead is a festival of art, sciences and engineering. We saw a fake Mars house, a construction site with holes in the walls where looking through they big screens with moving dragon eyes. But the coolest thing there by far was the Serpent Mother:

Day 6:

This day we went up the Calgary Tower, and there was a Beakerhead thing going on there as well. For the ride up the elevator we put on VR headsets that made it look like we were going up to a space station in a space elevator. At the top there was a “simulation” of Calgary out side the windows so the astronauts wouldn’t feel lonely.

Day 7:

On this day we went to the Columbia Icefield – Athabaskan Glacier and skywalk. At the bottom of the glacier there is a lake that has natural laxatives in it. The glacier has shrunk at lot in the last 50 years. I have actually  been on the glacier before two years ago, but this time we took a big bus up instead of walking up.

Also, I hadn’t been on the skywalk before.

Day 8:

Day 8 was the last day. On this day we stopped at a place called the Enchanted Forest. It was a forest filled with fake animals and people. It had tiny houses and things related to famous fairytales. Here we were again split into groups and had to make a fictional video using some of the things in the forest. I was in a group with Lauren, Kailey, and Maggie.

However in between visiting all the highlights we drove a lot and we saw a lot of beautiful scenery. I made a video about that. The way it started was the teachers saying to everyone  “ oooooh this is beautiful scenery. Maybe you should take a video of it?????” So I decided to take videos of all the beautiful sceneries and make them into one big video of the scenery. Of all the videos I made this is my favorite.

So basically I’m trying to tell you that we saw a lot of cool things, including the Serpent Mother, the Athabaskan Glacier, and a lot of pretty scenery. Overall I really liked this trip.
