We’ve been learning a lot about steampunk in school recently. So now we have to wright a post about it, more specifically we have to come up with a question about steampunk and try to answer it here. So my question is ‘how do you make something look steampunk?’.
I think the best way to do this is to take some brass or copper gears, pipes, gauges, chains (like bike chain), anything that is metal and isn’t to high tech, I needs to be something that could be powered by steam, although some thing like hydraulics would probably be ok. Then you just put all that stuff in places that kinda make sense so it looks like it could actually function (Always make gears interlock if possible). Although actual brass or copper are preferred you can paint some metal you already have with some brass, copper or bay be bronze paint to make it look stem punk. The thing you’re steampunking also has took look old fashioned. Here is a good example of making it look like it could function and making it look old fashioned:
See how there is a gear on the elbow joint, and how the hydraulic looks like it would move his arm. Here is a bad example:
This is a bad example because the gears son’t interlock and are just placed randomly. A good way to fix this would be to get rid of the gears and put some goggles on it that have been steampunked, like this:
So basically you want to take some brass or copper stuff like gears and stick it on in a place that make it look like it could actually function while maintaining the old fashioned look, and boom you have a steampunky whatever you wanted to make.
