Hello people and welcome back into my head! Lately in class we’ve been talking about revolutions in class and how they work. So today we have a blog post about Crane Brinton, he’s a famous dead guy, and his theory about revolutions. So his theory goes like this…

First comes the incubation stage where people are overtaxed, have a weak ruler, military suppression etc. After they move into the second stage where two large groups are formed. One is composed of radicals that would like to “remove” the current leader, and the other of people that are protesting and just want to Be in power of their country and rule themselves. After this comes the third stage, the stage the revolution kicks off. The radicals are usually in power, over the revolutionists and a large amount of killing happens until they have “removed” and replaced the current leader. Then we move into the fourth and last stage where the revolution dies down and it becomes peaceful, very few changes are made but the revolutionist are usually in power. Now I tried to fit his theory into the industrial revolution.

I drew my representation of the four stages. Now unlike in the theory there aren’t really two clear partys or leaders in this revolutions other than the workers. There is also no killing or fighting in this revolutions, but there are some deaths. So the first stage or “incubation” stage there are traveler that go by horsepowered carts and many factorys that do things by hand. Then comes the second stage where the invention of the powered loom comes in. This could be the protesting part where they are giving everyone a slap in the face saying, ” Haha look how much more I can do faster than you”. Their business is booming and then we move into the third stage where people start making steam engine for trains and boats and get oil and coal, the stage where everything goes down. And now we are at the fourth stage. Most things are the same, but more effective and efficient. There are cars instead of carts etc.

So I would say yes I does fit into his theory pretty well, but there are some major features that are not there that should be. That is all thanks for reading and bye bye!
