So recently in Scimathics we have been leaning about cells. We learned about different parts of the cell and what they were used for. We did a lab where we extracted the DNA from a strawberry and looked at it through a microscope.
We started off by putting cooking oil, water, and salt in a bag along with a strawberry. We then crushed up the strawberry with the rest of the ingredients. We then filled half a test tube up with alcohol and added the strawberry. DNA strands started raising to the top of the tube. We then grabbed the strands and put them on a slide to look at in the microscope.
Later in the week we did a little experiment where in a small group we had to make a strand of DNA. Just before we learned about strings in DNA and how AT and CG always go together. We had to replicate it all in a model. My group made our strand have 10 strings 5 AT and 5 CG.
