Program Registration

We will be hosting four separate YLM groups with different start dates this year. Our first cohort is anticipated to start May, 2022 – Spots are filling up fast!

Our registration process

An eight-month program isn’t a small commitment – we think it’s important for us to learn more about each other and make sure that our goals match with yours! 

After you complete the online registration form, we will contact you to schedule an interview via Zoom.

Our program

The Youth Leadership Millennium (YLM) is an 8-month program dedicated to helping young people aged 15-30 in areas of personal and leadership development.

Since 1998, we have helped transform the lives of more than 900 graduates.

Who can join

We are a diverse and inclusive program. We encourage youth from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds to apply.

Our three eligibility criteria are:

  • Anyone between ages of 15 to 30 years
  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents
  • Reside in Metro Vancouver

Program outcomes

Upon successful completion of the YLM program, youth participants will receive:

  • S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Youth Leadership Millennium (YLM) Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Official Letter of Reference from YLM

Program details

Each year, we organize a series of activities, workshops, and events that are not only fun, but also encourage personal growth, increase participants’ social awareness and physical strength, and facilitate creative and positive change in our community!

Unique experiences

We take a holistic approach to develop well-rounded leadership. Activities could include:

  • team-based community projects
  • learning the ropes of public speaking
  • outdoor activities such as hiking and camping
  • life skills workshops on communication and conflict resolution
  • volunteer opportunities
  • individualized coaching sessions with a YLM Youth Worker

Due to the pandemic and current health restrictions, program delivery may be adjusted in accordance with the Public Health Order. Contact us directly to register for an online information session.

Pedalheads – Summer Jobs and Volunteering Positions

Pedalheads is currently hiring instructors to work with us this summer for the end of June to early September. It’s an awesome opportunity for students to get some hours and leadership/teaching experience.

To qualify as a bike instructor, students need to be turning 16 in the calendar year. If any students are interested in becoming an instructor for our Trail program, we require that they be turning 17 in the calendar year. We also have opportunities for younger students to volunteer during these weeks! Students must be turning 13 in the calendar year in order to be a volunteer.

Operate all rides and attractions in a safe, friendly and professional manner and ensure our guests are provided with a safe ride, every ride.

  • Candy/Concessions Attendant – 15 years of age or older by May 31, 2022

Provide exceptional guest service at a Playland candy or concession stand. In addition to processing transactions and operating a point of sale system.

  • Concessions Cook– 15 years of age or older by May 31, 2022

Prepare a variety of food and beverage items for various fast-paced Playland concession stands.

  • Grounds Maintenance Attendant – 15 years of age or older by May 31, 2022

Ensure that assigned areas of the buildings and/or grounds of the PNE are maintained in a clean and debris-free manner.

  • Playland BBQ Attendant- 15 years of age or older by May 31, 2022

Provide excellent guest service to our Playland BBQ guests, including food service, food inventory control and BBQ area maintenance

  • Playland BBQ Grill Cook- 15 years of age or older by May 31, 2022

Prepare and grill a variety of foods for large parties and provide excellent guest service for Playland BBQ events

  • Guest Experience Attendant- 15 years of age or older by May 31, 2022

Deliver exceptional guest experience by providing guests with resolutions to concerns, redeeming admission tickets, greeting guests, providing guests with and site information.

When will you work?*

  • Dates: Playland is open from June 4 – October 31
  • Hours: Playland will have a day time timeslot from 11am – 5pm and an evening time slot from 6pm – 11pm. Various shifts will be available between 10am – midnight (12am), on each operational day.
  • Availability Requirements: at least 3 shifts per week, including evenings and weekends

Technovation GirlsBC’s Intro to Java Workshop

Coding in Java Workshop

Curious about coding and don’t know where to start? Are you interested in learning to code in Java and applying it to this year’s Technovation Girls project?

Join us at BCIT’s Downtown Campus on March 26th & 27th for Technovation GirlsBC’s Intro to Java workshop!

Upon completing our free two-day workshop series, students will understand the basics of coding, including the four components of computational thinking, variables, data types, arrays, conditionals, and loops, and how to use them.

By the end of this workshop, you will build a basic app (rock paper scissors game) that can be used as a reference to build your own project for the Technovation GirlsBC 2022 competition (note: participants do not have to be enrolled in the Technovation Girls program).

Location: BCIT Downtown Campus,  555 Seymour St, Vancouver, BC

Schedule: Saturday, March 26, 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM and Sunday, March 27, 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Lunch will be provided each day (Tacofino and Railtown Cafe). 

Eligibility for participation:

  • Participants must be between the ages of 13 to 18.
  • Participants must identify as female, trans, nonbinary or gender nonconforming. Why?

We are recruiting for the 2022-2023 FBC Youth Advisory Committee and are searching for youth representatives aged 16-30 living in every part of the province.

Committee members share their unique insights into key sustainability and climate priorities facing their regions and can identify ideas for projects they would like to see FBC initiate that address those specific challenges. The Committee’s high-level input will shape FBC Youth Program initiatives to better serve youth throughout BC. Members also help create, develop, and support other youth in implementing exciting sustainability initiatives.

Committee members will:

1. Connect and collaborate with similarly passionate, sustainability-minded youth in BC

2. Learn more about unique climate change and sustainability issues across the province

3. Gain hands-on leadership experience in organizational governance and planning, supporting FBC in sustaining organizational momentum in the long-term

4. Network and build relationships with sustainability leaders across multiple sectors such as civil society, business, and government

5. Connect with nature and build bonds through a paddle trip with fellow Committee members (all expenses paid!)

Edible Garden After School Program

Edible Garden Project After School Program –
