Introduction
Welcome to Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) Station 2’s Junior Training
Program. The RCMSAR 2 Junior Program is a highly practical volunteer program which supports
building foundational skills as a SAR crewmember and fostering a passion for service to the
community. This program offers North Vancouver Youth aged 17-19 the opportunity to become
involved in Canada’s marine search and rescue (SAR) network, challenge their leadership
capabilities, and develop skills for future employment in a multitude of industries.
RCMSAR 2 Juniors are expected to embody the following four characteristics:

Purpose
The RCMSAR 2 Junior Program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to build
skills as a marine first responder before even graduating high school. Royal Canadian Marine
Search and Rescue volunteers are passionate about what they do, and see the Junior Program
as a means to share invaluable life skills and experiences with youth. Whether Juniors are
interested in careers in emergency services, law enforcement, medicine or any number of the
marine trades available across sectors, the program is designed to inspire life-long volunteers to
be involved in their community and have an impact in improving the lives and safety of others. A
number of our Junior Program members have joined the program initially because they wish to
build new skills, challenge themselves, and explore new horizons.
