How the Raven Brought the Light

When being given the project to try and figure out how light moves in straight and all of the different aspects, I have to be honest, I was challenged a bit at first to try and figure out how I could do this.image
I had to include transparence, translucence, reflective, refraction and opacity. Yikes! My first thought was a “Lazy Susan” approach, like the thing my Grandma used to use to spin around food on the dinner table. This was a good idea, how could I attach the light to shine on it. At first I was going to use a tripod and hang the light from it but my Dad came up with a crazy idea of using a magnet to hold the light in the air. Of course it worked. Next what do I made this spinner thing with. My grandpa has machine that bend plastic, and that’s what I did. With a circular piece of plastic I bend up tabs and then I applied all the different elements; mirrors, tape, paper, and clear plastic. I attached the spinner to my base (a piece of wood) by a crew which allowed it to spin around.imageimageimageimage
I painted on the sun and of course a Raven, making the base look like ground with rivers. It really was cool when you put the light on and tried the experiment of seeing how the light changed. I can only imagine how Ibn Al-Hatham must have felt when he made this discovery. CRAZY!!!!
