For the past little while in science we have been learning about the periodic table of elements and recently we have been learning about how to combined elements to make compounds.
This past class we did a lab and made copper and aluminum chloride by separating copper and chlorine and adding aluminum. What happened when we did this experience was the aluminum replaced the coppers in the compound. When then tested this new compound by putting the copper into a flame and it changed the colour of the flame from a blue to a bright green!

This was a great lab to do in science because it really gives a hands on project to do and learn about the different compounds not just by reading off paper and memorizing but by actually creating a compound.
