An Official Opening Ceremony was held at Windsor Secondary on Wednesday, October 13. The Windsor Sports Complex features an artificial turf field, a six-lane running track, an indoor training facility – the Soccer Bubble – as well as washrooms and spectator areas.
This exciting project was only made possible through the combined efforts and financial contributions of all levels of government, the corporate sector, and community partners. MP Andrew Saxton, MLA Naomi Yamomoto, Mayor Richard Walton, Board Chair Franci Stratton, Bart Kaluk of Canexus, Shauna Tucker, North Shore Soccer Girls Soccer Club President, and Mike Fox, Chair of North Vancouver Sport and Recreation, all spoke of the tremendous partnership that developed to accomplish this fabulous complex.
Words of appreciation were also extended to all the staff and contractors who contributed to the tremendous success of this project.
Following the official opening and ribbon cutting, guests were treated to a visit to the Soccer Bubble where a cake cutting ceremony took place.
Athletes, students and community members will all be able to enjoy the use of the Windsor Sports Complex facility for many years to come.
